Re: Skidpan/Wetpan Sydney
Hi "aurnob",
At this time there are no skidpan events scheduled by the MX-5 Club of NSW.
I have offered to organise some skidpan based events for club members, and have done some preliminary research.
The first decision that had to be made was whether to run on wet and dry surfaces.
To minimise perceived wear and tear, and so cater for the widest audience, it was decided to limit events to wet surfaces.
I know of only 2 suitable locations in the Sydney area:
- The skidpan at SMP, and
- A carpark at the regatta centre near Penrith, which is used for driving training by Driving Solutions.
The next decision was to decide the type of event.
Should it be a training, practice or competition event?
If training, pitched at what level, defensive, advanced, stunt?
Most people I have spoken with indicated a preference for a training event for relatively inexperienced drivers, focused on car control skills.
I am happy to get ideas from anyone on suitable venues, events and/or courses,
and if anyone wants to help put something together, that would be even better!

There's SAU Texikhana on the 7th of October (public holiday). It's hella fun. Get in quick, because it sold out last time.

Re: Skidpan/Wetpan Sydney
I would be in...
I recon a two parter... training various individual aspects in the morning (HB turns, Jturns, skandos, slaloms) string together some simple patterns in the arvo, and end with a head to head knockout slalom (out, back, out, back, garage type of thing).
(crosses fingers)

Don't know, email then asking if there are spots, then send payment and entry form ASAP to secure your spot.
