Hello

Postby Dre » Mon Oct 06, 2014 8:27 pm

Hey guys, new member here. I'm looking forward to chatting to you all.

I'm a drummer, I work in finance and I have an unhealthy obsession with cars. There are worse addictions :)

I'm looking to buy an NC in the near future, I'm very excited after test driving some NC's. I drove an 86 as well but I just loved the convertible thing. I need to sell my S15 silvia first (here it is http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/corrimal ... 1058564880 ).

Just wanted an idea on what I should pay for a 2009/2010 NC with lowish k's and a hard top? I was going to try and find a clean lady-owner one and just leave it stock, maybe change the rims down the track. Will NC's come down a bit when the ND is released?

Welcome, nice S15, the NC is a great choice (any mx5 is really) Keep having a look at carsales and in the for sale section on here always cars going for a good price. Going off carsales most in the 2010 region seem to be going for $20-$25k some a little more and a little less. seems reasonable to me since they arent that old most with low km and single owner, Id say the prices will drop when the ND comes out but depend if you want to wait that long and find out  :D

I tried to find a release date but all I got was ''early 2015'', so that could be 6-7 months away at this point, and I still gotta sell my car. The idea is to get a car that is still fairly new but has come down in value.

I am itching to live the dream (been watching youtube, googling pics, looking at classifieds). Looking forward to a cruise.

:)

I would hold off until the new one arrives. The NC used and even new will tumble in price. Honestly when the new one arrives, I fail to see Mazda salespersons offloading the NC without huge discounts.

Hmm now I'm reading they're being released in the 2nd half of 2015... I really don't want to wait that long.

I know it's anyone's guess but how much do you think a used late model NC would come down? Do you think the dealers would respond by dropping the prices instantly or would it be the type of thing where they'd see a drop in demand and then knock some off the price?

Welcome!
The range & price of an ND in Aust will also be a factor, & is currently the subject of much speculation.

ND probably 12 months away.

Only 30 NCs remain available in dealer stock. 6 of them are the more desireable and better priced 25th Anniversary special (3 each of auto and manual). The other 24 will get shifted at less than retail prices. Remember, these all have electric folding hard tops, whereas ND will be a (proper) soft top, at least to start off with. If you want a great deal on a new NC, let me know.

Pricing of ND at less than NC will likely further reduce values of used NC, but they're already cheap. Some owners of present NC, especially those who might be coming to the end of being able to get in and out of an MX5, might be more easily persuaded to take an even more realistic price right now for their cars, rather than suffer the further depreciation their car will suffer if we hear ND pricing is from, say, high $3?ks instead of the present mid-$5?ks (drive away).
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Thanks fellas. Dave, thanks very much, I don't want to spend too much though so it's going to be a few years old, whatever it is.
