Re: So far not a good experience with MX5 Mania
Every time I have been to mania Ajay is sending stuff out first thing in the morning. The number of parcels he needs to get ready for the courier is astonishing. It's frantic! Before asking me what I am doing there and can he help! But yes, sometimes they aren't great with phone response.

Re: So far not a good experience with MX5 Mania
Seeing as I work for Australia Post I'd like to make a few comments.
It's easy to blame the transport company when the sender has been to busy/forgot/couldn't be bothered to post the item.
All Express Post, all registered mail and most parcels/packets are now scanned and tracked. All delivery personel now carry a scanner to scan the item when it's ready for delivery and when it's delivered to the customer or transferred to the Post Office for pick up. Scanning performance is around 99% meaning that 99% of items that require scanning are scanned correctly.
In the last 12 months AP has spent a fortune on new parcel processing machines in Sydney and Melbourne to improve sorting accuracy, tracking and processing speeds. They are about to spend up big on new letter processing machines that will round sort all letters which will once again speed up processing times and accuracy in letter sorting.
Our "new" CEO, Ahmed Fahour, is of Lebanese origin and has been in the position for around 5 years.
Everyone has an Australia Post horror story but their delivery performance is close to 100%. Unfortunately with the volumes of articles processed that small proportion in error still adds up to a large number of items.
Now, back to our regular scheduled program.......

Re: Just a misunderstanding. MX5 Mania rocks
I've had a lot less hassles with Australia post than courier companies.
I just wish they were better as sending parcels to/from Perth and use some of those large objects with wings instead of derailing trains.
I can get an item from the UK faster.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: So far not a good experience with MX5 Mania
I've bought a few things from mania and thought the service was great. I'm in Melbourne so everything is by phone and email. It's never been a problem. Quite the opposite, the parts usually show up long before I'd get a chance to pick up parts locally (between raising kids, running a business and the occasional track day). Also Ajay has always cheerfully given a few minutes of free advice with each call. That's worth a lot to a Newbie.
I look at it a bit differently. I'd say they can't afford not to. That's not to say that we should beat up on someone because something has gone wrong, but it's not uncommon that I go to buy something and think that this business just isn't trying because they make it harder than it needs to be.

While i'd expect you have have received some sort of email back from Mania, in Ajay's defence it looks like he's really suffering some serious Manflu and is probably sleep deprived from his young son. Mania are a family business passionate about motorsport. If they don't get back to you right away chances are they've headed to a track somewhere with cars or karts doing some R&D.

Best service I ever had was from GSL Rallysport, delivering some brake pads to me a few years ago. Ordered at 9:40am, arrive at 10:30am same day.

That's good to know. What measures are there to prevent your postie from losing bits of your delivery though? It was a few years ago so presumably before the tracking improved, but I had ordered some springs and shocks for my old commodore. The springs turned up, without the shocks, and the parcel had been 'signed for' by the deliverer themselves. They were left on my doorstep, sans shocks, with his scribble saying I signed for them. Contacted the seller who confirmed 2 packages were sent together, and within an hour they contacted me to tell me they were sending more shocks at AusPost's expense, despite being delivered registered, but not insured.
The postie in that area was pretty bad for being a lazy guy though. Would regularly leave things at the door which needed to be signed for. Guess the springs were too heavy to drag back across the yard...

I see many flaws with this:-
No timeframe was given for delivery.
Expectation for timeframe of delivery was unreasonable.
Left too late to order, but ordered anyway.
Couldn't be arsed driving to collect items originally, which should've been done in first place due to time constraints.

Re: Just a misunderstanding. MX5 Mania rocks
In my experience, if you are buying anything from within Australia, whether 35km away, or on the other side of the country, you want that order in by Monday to have much hope of a Friday delivery.
Ideally, you order the Friday before, or the weekend before so that, come Monday, the order can be processed and into the post, giving it a decent number of days to try and make it to you.
Ordering on a Wednesday, hoping for Friday (without express post?), is very... ambitious?
In part, it certainly can be the slowness of Australia Post but also the time it takes a seller to put something into the post.
Some make a habit of same day posting which is awesome; others can let it go for half a week or more, like they've forgotten you.
Without any sort of firm agreement on this stuff, you're really at the mercy of the vendor primarily, and then the postal service.

With respect, non of what you say is related to the topic.
Issue was that they failed to respond to calls and messages. Had they responded, I'd Have drove to collect knowing it's ok to do so. As the title now says it, it was all a misunderstanding and it's sorted anyway.
Thanks to the admin for editing the title, saved me.
Cheers for everyone's support and feedback, you're all good mates.
Have a good weekend everyone and congrats to MX5 Mania's Ajay for his new born.
And to the chap defending Australia post, yeah ok mate!

Speaking as a current Freight train driver..... Steady up!

We haven't made a big mess on the main West in a couple of years!

I have bought a fair bit of stuff from mania since buying my first MX5 about 13 months ago, I have found there service great, I live in Toowoomba, they shipped 2 new seats to me, I think it took 4 days, most other stuff has taken about 3, and AJ has been really helpful with advice
