Fitted a (repro) early model front bumper sticker. Have been on the fence about one for ages, not sure why - it’s not like they’re expensive, and I can always take it off again. Was hoping the shade of gray would be closer to the wheel colour but, now I see it on the car, it’s closer to silver than anything else... and silver is good IMO.

ImageInstalled an RS factory Nzero2 exhaust system recently. Ordered from Rev9 and on my doorstep within 5 working days(!!!) and with the usual care package of lollies and stickers.
A big thankyou to Maxime at Rev9 for making all purchases easy and putting the effort into good customer service, something of a common trait across numerous vendors in our niche little market. I considered hanging the exhaust in the shed as art but in the end the need to hear it's raspy bark won over, not before a bath in a decent vodka to clean it down first though.
I am not a drinker but must admit to not letting the remainder of bottle going to waste. First drink in 11years! (Not counting one low strength imported beer peer pressured onto me by keith and pham, evil enablers!)

It comes with a silencer baffle to gentrify the tone which i thought was a neat touch.

I've been onto replacing all stainless brake hardlines with copper nickel hardline, the ease of forming double flares quite noticable. This being the fourth time brake lines were fabbed, zinc coated steel hardline rusted almost instantly, braided flex line with AN fittings i just didn't trust enough and the stainless steel hardline punished the flare tool dies and a couple of stress fractures in flares worried me enough to do them all again. Jon Pham recommended the 'copra nickel' or coppre nickel hardline, acquired from 'thestopshop' online and coming with an SAE and DOT rating I'm happy enough to use it on twogun.

Took it for a decent run...

I've been wanting to drive the Lions Road for at least a year, finally did it as part of a loop that included Rathdowney / Queen Mary Falls / Woodenbong. Including transit to / from the loop it was 380km, done over a leisurely 7 hours. From a tourists point of view, the vistas climbing to Queen Mary Falls were the highlight. From a driving perspective, the fast sweeping curves on the road from Woodenbong to Kyogle.

Rescued a scruffy hardtop from a mates garage. Needs some hours in repairing the fg and a change of colour

Got all paranoid about throttle body screws and turbos.
Now have a Skunk2 fitted. Don't know if it makes any difference in performance but I wont be worrying about broken screw heads anyway.

The kit came with everything to fit it but the one of the screws that hold the adapter plate is too long and also one of the mounting screws was too long. Both fixed with an angle grinder.

Perthpom50, are you aware of the issues with the Skunk2 throttle body, and the steps required to fix it?

It's documented in a few places around the internet, and the fixes aren't too hard. The main issue is that it can stick open, and requires a new hole to be drilled for the throttle cable to attach to.

Greg explains the issue in this video pretty well and the fix he made. Do some additional searches, especially over at miataturbo.net.

Thanks for the info Lachy.
I had read all about the Skunk problems so am quite ready to have to drill a hole if needed, I'll see how it goes for the time being. You never know Skunk might have got their act into gear.
When I started the motor first up it revved at 2000 rpm and I thought that I was in trouble, however was only that the throttle cable was too tight, once i backed it of I am back to just under 1000 rpm which is where it was before.
Next job is to remove the charcoal canister and associated rubbish. Any one who has done the same and has has any hints then they will be gratefully received.
Also had a good look at the general state of the hoses and I think that I need to just replace them all. Sixteen years is probably as long as you could reasonably expect them to last. I think that I will get a set of silicon hoses, again any hints or tips are welcome.

Nick

Pics of the Skunk. You can see the brass connector that I used to connect the coolant hose that goes through the OEM body but through the Skunk.

Also pictures of the Joying head unit that I bought from Jordy. Hooked it up to a reversing camera also used for the bluetooth as the authorities are red hot on using a phone while driving.

Nice work, Nick. Can you tell me some details on that Joying? I was under the impression that they are near impossible to fit in our cars.

Sad day for me, I had to put 98 instead of E85 in it for the first time this year  Driving to Bundaberg this weekend and the sweet stuff won't be readily available. 40 litres of 98 left my Ethanol reading at 12%, basically it's a batch of 98 octane blend E10. It should drop to near zero on the next fill though.

I have to say that the installation was a bit of a pain.
For a kick of the dash removal tools that I ordered from Amazon got lost. Then a really nice man from the AutoBarn store in O'Connor lent me his removal tools as he had none for sale.
Getting the old radio out was no where near as easy as it is made to look on you tube so the surrounds have a few small extra scratches.
I had removed the radio from my old NA and that was a piece of cake, as well the cage holding the radio in would have been easy to use with the Joying.
I have ended up the original springs attached to the Joying to make sure that it never falls out completely. I then bought some half rubber moulding from Clark rubber which is what holds the head unit firm. I'll see if I can take some pictures in the next few days although I have had a gutfull of getting it in and out, I'll see what I can do.
The unit its self is this one which I bought from Jordy on the MX5cartalk facebook page

The bloke from Sydney Guard Rolling came out to give my new 15X7 Superlites some clearance.

A great job at a terrific price.
