MX5 Colour Code Help
Does anyone know what type of paint (ie clear over base?) & colour the black section at the very bottom of an NA8 sill is? Mine is stone chipped pretty badly and I'm wanting to clean it up.

White Knight Satin black rattle can is near identical, i've painted both black strips and they look a lot better now.
masking tape, primer and paint was all under $20 at local hardware store, and took a couple of hours to do.
well worth it!

That's the sort of advice I'm looking for, thanks. I have a can of VHT satin black wheel paint I used on a set of Fuchs recently, but I reckon it's a bit flat compared to the MX5 sills. I want to be lazy and blend rather than paint the whole lot. There is virtually no paint behind the front wheels from having stones spraying it off the semi slicks over the years.

if you go to a auto paint supplier-there must be some in Brissy -they will tell you what to use.

Re: MX5 Colour Code Help
If you were doing the whole lot I'd strongly recommend POR15.
It's a rustproofing paint designed for chassis etc, so it's very resiliant to stonechips and marks.
The only problem is that it's not UV stable apparently (being designed for underneath a car) the label reccomends for areas in the sun that it is coated with some form of clearcoat (not sure if they mean any clear, or a special POR brand clear)

Reading both the US and Australian sites it looks like any clear coat will protect as the don't sell a POR specific clear coat.

Re: MX5 Colour Code Help
try to wrap them with carbon fibre wrap (3M), no need to get carbon style, they have paint black to choose, 3M carbon fibre wrap can take more damage than paint
