Sorry to drag out this old one and I know that it has been done to death but I have to admit I spent atleast 2 hours today trying to post a photo for the first time and I tried following all the advice I could find on the forum

I tried using flickr first and found that I could post a photo or atleast a link to flickr on here but it appeared that my whole flickr account was available for all to see....I dont know if that was because I was using my computer to test the link and that it would be the same for everyone else so I checked into the advice on the forum and it seems that you can crop the bbcode so that no links will appear dont know exact;y whether that means that it stops everyone having access to all your photos??so I copied the examples and that didnt work ...no photo or link

Another post said that if you email the photo from flickr to yourself you can get the URL and then just use that between the IMG tags...sounds good and easy unfortunatlely that doesnt work

So I went onto imageshak as recommended and found that you have to have a paid subscription if you want to post photos bigger than thumbnail size....anyway perservered and uploaded photo got the URL and tried that between the IMG tags butthat didnt work....so I went back to imageshak and tried the forum code and entered that which gave me a link to the photo only no photo directly displayed tho.

Did a test and the link worked so I gave up that point (still using same computer that I used to post )

Went out and later tried to see if I could access the photo via the link on my phone ....error message does not recognise URL

Now as most know you cant post photos using the attachment on the site as it only allows a size no bigger than 200 x 200

So can anyone shed some light on the subject......apologies for the post on the 25th anniversary topic if you cant access the photo but now you will know why

cheers

Thanks man but tried uploading thru attachments and even tho the pic was less than 2mb and 2000pixels it would not upload so then I tried all the other methods described in my earlier post and had varying degrees of success so Im at a loss to know why??

I think the problems happens when the photos are too big just wondering if someone can check my post on 25th anniversary model to see if the link works to the photo?

Anyone know how to resize a photo?

I've bumped it up to 3000 pixels but the file size might end up being too big for the code to handle.

Give it a go.

Try photobucket. Can upload any size image and if too big its very easy to edit the picture

Click on 'browse' to locate the pic file then click on 'add the file' below that. Then just move the cursor to where you want the pic in the post & click on the 'place inline' button just below the text field.

Step by step that's:
Click on 'post reply' (below)
See 'Upload attachment' (just below 'submit' buuton)
Click on 'Browse' (to the right of 'Filename')
Then click on 'add the file'
Then see 'attachments' (above the 'submit' button)
Click on 'place inline'
Repeat for each pic
Then click on 'submit'

Five pics per page with above method, so if you've got more, just do a second or third post.

Alternatively, if you want to use an pic hosting website account - see how to post pictures on the MX5 Car Talk forum:

Using Windows Explore (right click on bottom left green start button) right click on photo file - select 'send to' & 'mail receipient' - then you'll be given the option to resize photo - click 'ok'. This will open an Outlook email which you can then click on the 'File' pull down menu to select 'save attachments'. If you have more than one photo, then just hold down the 'Ctrl' key while selecting the others - they will then all attach to the email & you can use 'save attachments' to capture them all. You should then find Outlook has resized pics to something useable on the forum.
