I found an immaculate silver nb8b for sale under $12k. Is it bargain, worth buying? It has logbook and clear from ppsr.

How many ppl in this forum prefer nb8b over other mx5 and can you share with me why please?

It sounds cheap for such a low Km car.
I like the NB8B's because they have all the safety gear but are not over priced, having said that there are some cheap NC's around as well.

Take it for a drive, if you like it, buy it. I had an NB8B and it was fantastic, miss it actually. I paid 12k for mine with around 90k km on it, was in near perfect condition. NB8B is a great example of the mx5 but then the whole mx5 lineup is perfect imo, they are all great models.

Thx for the comment. May i ask if u enjoy the speed of it, as i understood, from paper, the nb8bhas the least power to weight ratio amongst all 1.8l mx5

I think the B is a better drive than the A. much more connection to the road.

I would get the C though if there was a choice.
with the NB8A they got the steering completely wrong. its dead compared to an NA6/8
NB8B they got a lot closer

NB are more Modern. I would still get an NA6/8 before the NB8B but only just. Its just the driving experience.
NB8C.....shite its so much more modern with only a slight compromise with driving pleasure. I recon in my old age I would opt for the NB8C because its just that bit more modern, diff, brakes & so on.

They are all the same car....but each has some features about it. If its pure driving pleasure you want, and if youre young.......NA6/8

It's a good price but not incredible.

15 month ago I got a mint 2002 with 60k on it for $11k with factory leather and chrome scuff plates. It now has over 80k.

Deals are out there. At $12k I'd stretch and extra 1 or 2k and get an SE.

Unless you aren't going to drive it much the kms are pretty irrelevant with many examples of reliable MX5's hitting 300 and 400kms.

I have a 2001 NB8B with 55,000Ks and my only criticism of the car is the gearbox which I think is very ordinary for a sports car, particularly the 4 - 5 change which still causes me problems occasionally.
In every other respect I love the model and have never felt it was underpowered. If you are a 'power-junkie' then maybe something else would suit you better. Only you can say whether it has enough power for you.
$12K seems reasonable for a good low mileage car. You can waste a lot of time trying to find the absolute 'best & cheapest MX5 in Australia'. If you like it just buy it.

First up make sure you actually know what the car is. You check the VIN and you will not find 8b anywhere. We can assume the car is the upgraded NB with Vvt projector headlights etc and if it's not then it's overpriced. Condition and Mileage is always important. If its a first class car with known history and genuine KMs is an ok price and many NBs of that vintage have done + 150,000 klms

i think they drive very well and I have no complaint at all with the 6 speed gearbox- it always has a gear for all roads and my change is excellent but maybe they vary.

Buy a higher k one (150-200k) for $8,000-$9,000 or less if you find a bargain.. And use the rest if the money on upgrades. Like full exhaust and extractors, lightweight flywheel, 4.1 Torsen diff and coilovers.
