What price for beaten up NB8B

I'm looking at a car at the moment on gumtree and I'm interested in people's views on price for condition - here's a description:
2003 NB8B/C
6 Speed
140,000 km (on the odo at least)
Hail damage to all panels, scuffs to front and rear bar, bubbling paint down drivers door and rear 1/4, dull spot, possibly rattle can colour match down passenger door. Soft top has splits and minor repairs, does not look like it has much life left in it, rip in drivers door card, a bit scruffy inside.
Shifter feels very loose (needs bushes etc). Factory suspension. Only modification appears to be the red paint on calipers.
Under the bonnet, the oil is clean and brake fluid looks new. Undertray is missing, and there is oil leaking on the front of the sump (front main? halfmoon? cam seals?)
The seller is asking $5600 as is (it is not registered, it is not on the WOVR).
Here's a link to the advert for those interested - I have seen the car in the flesh, it's not as good as the photos!

Last one I took in trade in similar condition fetched $2,500 at auction with 6 months rego. We couldn't get a single bid from any of our usual wholesalers.

What is the purpose of the car? Road or track?

I know my vehicle is a NB8A but you or your friends is most welcome to come and inspect it.
Much better condition for the money, just doesn't have the ABS and bigger brakes :/

Yes, I have looked, and chatted with him. It's never coming back from the journey it's on! For me it would be the basis for a track hack, that I'd be happy to hack up while trying things out.

Sounds like a part-out situation, pity, that is a nice colour.
Engine, sounds like price would be affected by oil leaks (did you hear it running? is it smokey? noisey?), gearbox ditto unless purchaser can quickly/cheaply fix the bush before resale - they are the two big ticket, quick(?) sales jeopardised. Carpet looks crappy, if the seats are the same there goes another bundle of cash. Top sounds unsaleable. What's left - wheels/tyres? brakes/suspension? would the diff be an LSD (is that the 40th anniversary colour, did they have an LSD?)
Seems like a bit of conflict between the relatively low kms and the condition generally. Do you expect BP engines to leak oil at that mileage? I know it can happen, but on an unopened engine at that mileage?
I doubt that it is worth the trouble recovering it, unless it somebody wanting the car as a restoration/racer or to transfer the parts into another shell, and is prepared to do a
lot of work themselves. Even then, there has to better propositions around than this one at the prices mentioned above.

On preview: If it has been over the pits, there should be paperwork.

Since you don't need rego, maybe check out the auctions yourself?
Is still a bit of a gamble as you can't drive them but you can start up and check whilst running.
Could get you in a better car than the one on this thread.

However if you can pick it up for cheap to turn it into a track car as well as have the time (and budget) it could be worth it. If you need a trailer let me know
