Diesels at Le Mans

Has anyone else been keeping an eye on the Le Mans website?

It seems that Audi are about to make history as the first car to win Le Mans with diesel power

Adam(redmx5.com) was there,he called me with about 4 hours to go,said it is like being on the mountain at Bathurst when the V8s are on,but all the \"Yobbos\" were driving Ferraris and Lambos...there was a guy doing donuts in a Giallardo,and there was a Mclaren F1 sports car at the camping ground.

The diesel ended up winning by 4 laps....he said it was one of the quietest race cars ever...you could hear the tyre noise above the engine noise.

Road car i understand. But who wants a silent race car?!

comes in handy for stealth purposes? like sneaking up other cars with lights switched off in the night?

Audi R8 at a hillclimb in Spain I think... Awesome piece of driving.

Can't imagine a diesel version of that car being as exciting to watch without that engine noise.
