NA6 seat belt warning light on dash staying on when seatbelt plugged in

Recently the red warning light on the dash of my NA6 is not going out when I plug in the seatbelt. It goes out briefly when the seatbelt buck is initially pushed in but once it's pushed all the way down and latches it comes back on. I realise that this must be integrated as part of the drivers side seatbelt receiver. Is there an easy fix (e.g. open up and clean out, rebend a sensor tab that's lost it's spring etc) or is a replacement receiver required?

Firstly, ADM NA6s don't have a seatbelt light (I think). Thus yours must be JDM, as supported by the 180km/h speedo.
But why are you doing 120km/h and then taking a photo!

Yes, it is a JDM import. 89 NA6C.

I’m not. It’s not my photo, it’s just one I found to use to show the seatbelt light that I am referring to. Does it matter though in relation to the actual question asked as I haven’t found any evidence that the vehicles speed has a correlation to the issue.

Hi
It is obviously a real problem as the americans could not solve the problem for you. Perhaps the easiest way would be to snip the wire behind the instrument binnacle which would solve something which was not really important. Some things are not worth worrying about.

Maybe a good dose of electrical contact cleaner or isopryl propanol into the buckle might help

Not exactly how I would categorise it but anyway. Yes, I learnt from them that it seems to be a JDM feature, since with the LHD and RHD thing there’s not many JDM vehicles over there compared to here I brought the question over here. While I could modify the wiring to remove the feature it’s not my preferred course of action as I’d rather rectify the actual fault and keep the car a bit more complete/original. It’s not a major concern of mine by any measure but rather something that I thought someone on here may have previous experience/knowledge on to share.

Probably can’t hurt to try.

Might be worth contacting some JDM import autowreckers if you end up wanting to replace. There's a NA6 Eunos Roadster being parted that's on eBay at the moment at Southside JDM Imports in NSW. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mazda-MX5-eunos-roadster-miata-na-89-97-guard-indicator-wrecking-car-complete/223512755181?hash=item340a65fbed%3Ag%3AOxUAAOSw8S5c15qw&LH_ItemCondition=4

Might even be possible to swap the passenger one to the driver side temporarily.

I would just cut the wire and twist them together.
