RX7 / MX5 LSD diff interchange question

Postby JoshB » Wed Aug 16, 2006 5:00 pm

Anyone know if an LSD centre out of a 1993 RX-7 (Series 6 - 3rd Generation) will fit into the diff on my '94 MX5 (1.8l)?

Had a search here and on the big forum but can't seem to get the answer I need.

Got a friend wrecking one and want to get my hands on it if it is a good thing

Thanks

Pretty sure the only way to fit the RX7 gear is to fit the whole unit - dif, driveshafts, suspension etc which requires considerable modification. It has been done, and is good for big power turbo cars. Keep seaching - the info is out there (I just can't remember where though!) :D

Hey buddy,
I had a whole Series 6 Rx7 rear end,
when my mx5 blew its diff i took it to my diff man with the s6 rear end and asked him to fit it, i was hoping around $2,000ish,but he called me up later that day and said 5,000
so i jus had the mazdaspeed lsd rebuilt and has held up really well!
there is really not much room under there, and the s6 diffs are huge compared to an mx5 diff.
so unless u want to spend some $$$$
id stick to a basic lsd
