Yes alot of companys state that they can control the ALT but have seen an E11 in a MX5 that cooked a battery
The Autronic can do it but it has Idle problems better to change to the earlyer 1.8 ALT

Hi Russell - I too have heard many horror stories with alternator field control - from many ECU makers. My car is running a standard SE alternator and there is an NB8B in QLD also running the stock alternator - both with E8s. Just an FYI for the kiddies thinking that there is only one way to skin the proverbial feline. A fix was added late last year.
