Syn and minerial are not the same viscosities numbers. A minerial 20w-50 would be similar to a syn 10w-30.

That's not correct. They use the same scale whether mineral, synthetic or a mixture of both (semi-synth).
However the 2 numbers on all multigrade oils use different scales.

Are you sure about that? Viscosity is just a measure. Bit like saying 80 km/hr is really 60 km/hr ('and that's the truth Officer').

Hi.
Christ this fellow enquired about oil. We have now as usual been through the whole gambit of oils. If he took any notice he would be a quivering wreck. Why in this day and age is everybody experts on everything. Or are they.

NA6 Penite oil recommendation HPR30 20W-60
Wow this escalated quickly!
I run Penrite 10-tenths “race oil” 0w-40 with Aw10 friction modifier added, changed every 5,000km, is it overkill?.........100%!! but my car likes it and it is the right fit for MY car.
Previously ran 10w-40 10-tenths, doesn’t use any oil.
Let’s be honest our motors aren’t modern tight tolerance ones and will be happy with just about anything 0W-40, 10w-40, 20w-50 it all comes down to your climate temperatures, how the car is used and condition of the motor.
Penrite updates its recommended oils regularly and increase viscosity with vehicle age (came across this before) hence the 60 weight recommendation, not sure how HLA’s would like 60 but.
My motor is in good condition and when i drive it I will generally beat on it hence my oil choice.
My other cars have different oils because they are used and dríven differently, I use Penrite in everything except the motorbikes.

Yep, oil threads always cause way too much "passion."
