I am planning on installing the B6T engine (I will be swapping over the coil packs from the MX5) but would like to know if I can use the stock MX5 (B6) ECU to run the B6T engine?

Steve re stock ECU, basically it relates back to state requirements. As long as I use a stock ECU from the engine then the local authorities will pass it. So my options are:

a) use B6T engine with B6T ECU, but this can't handle the coil packs from the MX5 from what I read unless someone knows how to convert the signals over to be readable??

b) turbo the B6 engine and use the B6 ECU

c) any other options people can think of??

I want the car to be approved with a turbo but need to work with the parameters set.

install an aftermarket ECU but leave the olriginal one in there so it *looks* as though there is a stock ecu installed.

Our local road authorities will see through that I think, they are pretty thorough in their checks...

im sure it would be possible... just have to find a good place to hide the aftermarket ECU.... i dont really think they will pull the car apart to make sure its all stock.

have you thought about an aftermarket chip? i dont know if its possible but it might be worth checking out.

Has anyone got any pic's of their installed aftermarket ECU's?

I haven't researched aftermarket chips for a B6 to run a turbo. Anyone got any thoughts or links on this?

basically you can put your aftermarket ecu anywhere you want.
you can leave your factory one there all plugged in just have the loom chopped.
only problem is if the inspector knows his sh*t.
