make your own from scratch if you dont like the dunny pipe idea look on ebay and yahoo auctions for alloy pipe and mandrel bends (donuts).

if you make your own not only is it cheaper its also exactly what you want and you wont be afraid to improve on it as time goes on

Mania/SPM intake cannot be fitted to the SE unless you change the intercooler stock pipping configuration. The air dam from the SPM goes down the stock intercooler pipe pathway.

As for the flyinmiata kit, there kit does not also fit because the air filter sits where our brake drum is, also you need to be running atmospheric BOV for there set up.

The only other air intake i have seen is the one off a driftcar and boyracer's SE both which draw air from inside the engine bay, however they are still achieving nice power figures.

I asked mania if they could replicate something similar however nothing eventuated. Havent been able to find anyone else interested in making a makeshift pipe with a few extra welded pipes for the plumback and the 02 signal meter.

The AEM one looks nice, and it comes with a heat shield.

mbc = manual boost controller. FM's throttle body inlet pipe is quite good. Boyracer and I both have them. Needless to say you could make them if you were so inclined but at the price with 4 day delivery, why would you. Further, speak to some exhaust shops that do intercooler piping about getting a custom intake pipe make. It's not that hard you just need to find someone sympathetic to your cause, so to speak.

do you mean some ducting from the outside to the intake snorkel, or get rid of the box and put a pod filter on a custom pipe?

Is it worth keeping the standard box, and playing around with it (K&N filter and cold air pick up to the snorkel) or look at something else?

I would get rid of all the factory pipework and airbox and just put a decent filter and pipe directly into the turbo inlet. I can't remember the size but I think it is 1 and 7/8 inch inlet - mine goes up to 3 inch with a couple of increasing diameter flares. If you care about warranty though, maybe this is not for you. Unless you got rid of all the airbox, there's not much point in changing it at all I reckon.

Having done testing on the original Mania cold air intake (5 years ago) for the NB series cars, I can assure you that cold air exists behind the headlight in the NBs. There is no need to put the filter in direct airflow outsifde of the engine bay. Using a simple shield or a full box like the begi kit is sensible and only helps to keep the cold air around the filter.

That BEGI air intake looks pretty good, just cant see where the adapter for the 02 sensor goes. $550 AUD including delivery isnt exactly cheap, I guess a typhoon type system roughly goes for about 400-500 AUD. Is this what your interested in buying carlo?

Interesting that they are using the stock BOV with the FM throttle body elbow.

I'm in the process of making some nice foglamp replacement ducts for the NB8B front bar. (just need to get some nice black grill).

This might be a better solution for \"pushing\" cold air up into the engine bar through that hole hidden under the headlights.

I'll post some photos soon.

The best price I've found (not including the NOPI site) is US$215 each plus $95 shipping for the lot. If we get them to deliver to Brisbane, it would be under US$250 (~AU$320) each plus about AU$15 split three ways to ship C+C's one to Sydney which is only fair.

NOPI has a fantastic price, but they've only got one left in stock at that price, and it's the shipping that's the killer.

I have clients in the US that run auto parts shops, one of them is a Miata nut with an AEM intake on his NB8B and is going to get a good price for me when they open back up in the new year.

Thanks, the part number is 22-489P. That's for the polished pipework, you can get red or blue if you want but I'm after the polished one.

I can have it done in whatever finish you like, we have powdercoating facilities at work, I'll probably do mine in a black ripple finish to look like stock.

I'd be interested as well, let me know when you guys are serious about purchasing.
