I always thought is was Independent Runner Throttle Bodies (IRTB).
They share a common rail (injection fuel feed).
We have not had individual rails on production cars since the demise of mechanical fuel injection.

This is an awesome sounding setup, I searched on the big forum on these sort of setups but not a huge amount of interest, it all seems to be about forced induction(a bit more on clubroadster.net though)

I was interested in puttin some IRTB on my old AE86's 4age. They sound awesome, and make the engine respond like mad. I would love to get a set, but they aint cheap, and dont give much power increase. Thats probably why everyone goes for FI setups..
I have heard of a company that makes an MX5 IRTB manifold, so that you can mate some 20v 4age Quad throttles, to your mx5's engine. Should cost alot less buying some second hand 20v 4age quads..

i think i would almost rather to go for the entire 4age 20V set up in the 5 for the costs involved. 118KW before you have even touched it...
the 5 should have come with this engine
