driveshafts

I was just about to insert my 2002 driveshafts but I noticed at the brake end there is a big cog on the end, where the 1.6 shafts don't have this, do I take this cog off or leave it on?

does it look anything like this?
if it does....it should fit
this is a 99 NB shaft retrofitted into a NA6

Yep thats it Stan, I guess that cog doesn't come into contact with anything then.

That is merely the sensor ring for the abs, it will probably just be a tight interferance fit on there so if you like then you could probably remove it to save like 100g, but leaving it on there will not do any harm.
