This isnt supposed to be a qualitative review, as im sure the critics would probably find a flaw in the above variables (ie not directly measuring inlet/outlet temps and PSI).

Another 2 runs were done today in which the first power run came up as 118.8 and 119.5rwkw in the second, I guess this indirectly measures heatsoak and therefore after 3 pulls it appears not to be an issue.

I think its safe to say that the stock SE intercooler efficiency in reference to flow and cooling isnt so great. The myth about having a larger longer cooler that has more volume would vastly effect pressure into the inlet leading to decreased power isnt true. The power achieved today suggests that cooling and flow efficiency of this cooler is better then the PITA stock set up.

More to come when the AEM air intake, BEGi inlet and Boost controller is to be added.

Hmmmm. Impressive. Another mod to add to the list once the warranty runs out.

I think the more correct myth would be that a longer intercooler with smaller internal cross sectional area would have a higher pressure drop than stock a pressure drop across it. Your results certainly show that the intercooler you've chosen doesn't suffer from this problem.

Cheers,
Alf.

Nice work! I can blame you for throwing down another couple of hundred bucks on this car now!

Thats what im trying to say, you would think that because its longer and not as tall, there would be greater resistance to flow therefore reducing pressure decreasing boost and ultimately decreasing power. However this is not the case, boost pressure was measured from the TB and a .1 drop was noted if you want to call that a loss but overall power was increased.

If you ever do have the opportunity to pull of your stock cooler, have a good look inside and you will see that the way the fins are packed and spaced is rediculously stupid when compared to a high flow IC.

The aftermarket cooler also has more surface area exposed to air via the nose dam compared to the stock I/C, therefore one would assume the cooling capacity would be greater and its vunrebility to heatsoak would be less.

I bet there would be a greater difference if the boost was doubled to say 14psi

For a $200 mod to get 7kW is a mod worth doing.

On a NA car it would cost alot more to get the same increase in power.
