Will be good to see the results of a budget/bitsa build up and compare them to the more conventional AVO/Greddy kits.

I applaud your willingness to take on such a project! 8)

Bolt on my a$$

I cant work out how bolt on requires 13mm drill bit and a 4 inch grinder!

and the dump pipe! argh what a PITA you have to take it through the engine bay!put it in befor the turbo!

doesn't make sense!

all in all though not bad for minimal outlay

Can you give us all a general run-down on the specs, prices etc on the installation?

The basic kit was purchased from a fellow forumite - $1800 got me:

- TD04
- Turbosmart BOV
- SS manifold, dumppipe
- GReddy EManage Blue (piggyback) & spare 1.6 ECU and wiring harness
- 1.8 injectors
- RX7 (topmount) IC which makes a perfect sized FMIC

Other costs/items/gifts have included:
- Autometer Oiltemp gauge
- Autometer Boost gauge (yay for birthdays)
- Oilines/fittings, etc ($130)
- Silicone pipe joiners & Stainless pipe
- 2 core metalbody custom radiator
- turbo rebuild
- Mazdaspeed LSD & rebuild
- 2.5 inch hiflow cat
- wiring, hoses, etc
- clutch replacement
- other necessary servicing.....

So far the turbo budget sits (I think) around 3K all up - some parts like the LSD I bought prior to the intention to turbo, and the radiator was a necessary replacement due to cooling system issues. In the last 6months I've also done the timing belt, water pump and clutch, just to be on the safe side.

I have to wait if I need to get it dyno'd or if the Miataturbo EManage forum delivers me a suitable tune.....

Install continues this coming weekend - the initial measure up was only a small affair at the request of my RiceMaster... :D - my garage was turned into a full metalshop.....

This weekend I'll be fitting up the completed piping, and hopefully getting the dumppipe to fit properly - they obviously sized it WITHOUT airconditioning - potentially more cutting, insertion of a couple of bends, and rewelding it..... drilling the sump (oil return) routing the other hardware (water/oil lines)... etc.....

Last stage will be finishing it all up - perhaps at this stage dodgy day will be 9 March 2007. Including fitting various electronic tuning gizmos, boost sensor, loading a tune onto the EManage...... etc, and hopefully turning the key :)

Who's in???????? :D

Sounds like a day worthy of looking for cheap flights...
