Castle Hill Exhaust - $270 cat-back installed 2.25inch system. The owner/manager owns the RX2 drag car [13BEEE]. They have done 3 of my exhausts now on 3 different cars.

I put 2.25 on my car and it sounds and feels great. In my opinion if you are going to the trouble of doing the rest then you should fork out the extra money and get the hiflow 2.25 cat too. If you still have the std headers then I would suggest maybe even getting the engine pipe done oo.

On mine I have extractors so i got extractors back hiflow cat, and after that I have only a straight bit of pipe with a tiny bend(about 5-10*) and 45* mandrel bend into 90* mandrel into strait thru muffler into 90* mandrel out the back. It fits up well, and sounds great.

I drove this little beastie yesterday! 8)

I can say it pulls better than my car down low, and similar up high. It is perhaps a little bit more responsive up high though.

I have 2 inch all the way through with the standard headers.

Yeh $500 installed with a hi-flow cat also.

I have 2.25 cat-back with a hi-flow cat. The standard headers are hard to improve on due to their great design and so i didn't change mine - you won't get any dramatic increase of power from changing the headers...its mainly for bling purposes. hope this helps

Is $500 is a great price (?)

I wouldn't know the first thing about exhausts, but that is the next mod I'm after... Extractors + Exhaust from Mania is going to set me back $1.5k - Is that reasonable?

RayMo, I guess that would have to be a stainless one? If not gold plated? :)

Rob Bliss Exhausts (the ones who did the developement with Loch Stewart) wanted $480 for the Lochie cat back. That was installed BTW...

$1.5k is not a good price, to put it bluntly.

Hey Raymo. Mania quoted me under $1k for a 2.5 inch stainless exhaust, complete with high-flow cat and mid pipe. I think this seems reasonable for a stainless system all the way through. Also makes me think your $1.5k quote included more than just the exhaust.

Sorry to hijack this thread guys, but out of interest what would you generally expect to pay for a mild steel 2.5 system including mid pipe?

Hey GS, Why 2.5? Why not 2.25?

Ive got a turbo so i need to go with the larger exhaust (min 2.5 inch). The largest size you'd want for a normally aspirated MX5 would be 2.25 i believe.
