ive done a similar intake on my nb8a.
dont need to extend wires on the 8A just have to seperate the ones you need from the jumble of wires heading to the other side of the motor.
i used dunny pipe to make an air ram from the front bar to an alloy checker plate air box then had an open fillter and pvc elbow much like bevans.

i have since made a new elbow and used a matt black colour rather than the dodgy wrinkle paint thats in that picture and have a stainless fitting for the valve cover breather line. not sure if its just from my driving but i do find the elbow tends to warp from heat after awhile and can come loose.. im looking into other materials for the elbow. but for now i just replace it when it gets too bad.. only had to once so far.. and its been on there awhile now... maybe a year or so???
theres some dyno sheets at my car domain site, but i have also replaced my exhaust system.. so no direct comparisons on the returns of just the CAI. however i do believe it makes a bigger difference than the headers.
went from 73 to 83 rwkw with full exhaust system and CAI though i did post a 91rwkw at mania but their dyno had recently had new hardware installed so... cant believe that one..
this biggest gain is in throttle response if you jab the throttle you can hear the motor gasp in air, and it works really well at high revs and speeds. it also can get a tad noisy with the stainless mesh filter i have... sounds super charged

but im very happy with the way it goes and sounds...
have you done any other mods to the car?? would be interesting to hear it with a standard exhaust as ive heard people say a CAI can make the car sound as though it has a mild exhaust mod
