I changed my oil in an attempt to fix my gearbox sticking after accelerating hard but no go.

So I am thinking that doing the above might help?
Is this very hard to do has anybody got any handy links or how to's they can send?

You might want to change the oil in your gearbox turret while you are at it.. Remove the centre console, and rubber boots (replace if they are split), and pull out the shifter. Pump the old oil out and replace it with some new stuff... Its a pretty easy job, and should help with your problem..

I doubt that will stop the gearbox \"sticking\" unless the lower boot has disintegrated and fallen into the selectors.

Yeah it only happens going up hill which i think is odd. If i am going downhill hard it doesn't happen.

I had my hand on 2nd accelerating hard up hill and I could feel it move further towards the read of the car as it accelerated (if that makes sense)

Ill give this a go as its cheaper than a new gearbox.

Have you checked you're passenger side engine mount? A busted one will affect shifting and many other things. Very common too.

crikey, didn't realise the turret oil was meant to be up that much judging from the photo. i'd better get some gear oil then..

one more question, is the turret oil independant of the gearbox oil? fair bit of difference in price from regular gearbox oil to the synthetic stuff

I changed my shift bush over to a new brass one over the weekend (shift much better now), but buggered if I could get the gearknob off, both top and bottom boots are split and knackered and need to be replaced - what's the story, am I just too wimpy?

Is there a grub screw holding it on? If not then yep wimpy it is

and how much do you put in there?

Davamb you need to take your gear lever out and take your gear knob off. Then the two gear boot seals need to slide off, moving from the bottom to the top. Add some grease on to your gear lever first as this will help the rubber move. Then to install the new gear boot seals simply grease up the gear stick then slide the two boots down the shaft... I recently replaced mine and this worked well.

Gerabox oil and very little (less than 100ml)
