Ticking sound

hi guys, was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this issue. Just recently I have noticed a ticking sound coming from what looks like the area around the pulleys. Not sure if its one of the pulleys or a belt thats causing the sound. It's definately not the injectors cause the sound is not coming from top. The sound was noticable on cold start up but only just recently it has gotten louder and stays on through out driving.
Any ideas?

Valves may need adjusting/re-shimming. Could be a chunk out of one of your accessory belts. Could be a cam belt tensioner/guide pulley or the belt itself.

I have a ticking sound every morning on start up without fail. Goes away after about a minute though. Early MX5s blame he noise on HLA, but our cars don't have them. I just do regular services, warm her up properly. Apart from that, there's nothing I can do and nothing actually seems wrong.

Try changing your oil

as amps said a ticking in the top end can mean your over due for an oil change.. the oil is loosing some of its lubricating properties.
but could be a multitude of things really..

Oh well, it's not HLAs. Difficult to tell what's causing this without being there. Might be best to take it back to the place that serviced it.

sorry had the same problem on my nb8a - i was convinced it was a bolt flying around or something in the cam cover but low and behold it was my aircon. i went to the local ultra tune for a service and they said it was the aircon. i did not believe them at first until my aircon seized and my accerceries belt melted off. it may not be but it sounds like it to me.

well ive noticed that the aircon isnt cold at all im my car, i figured it jsut needed a re-gas...
how much would it have cost you to fix?
how much did it end up costing?
mine doesnt exactly sound like a bolt flying around... more like a loud tick... yeah i think tick is pretty much the onomatapia of it... tick tick tick tick tititititititititick (rev rev)

cost me about a grand. but that was because some pipe was split (which may explain the need for new gas cause it could be leaking) and he could only get an oem part which was 300 bucks alone! it may not be that but it is worth getting that bit checked out. i got the compressor from mania 250 bucks.
