High flow metal cat

Hey guys, did a search around this section and can't see this question being answered.
Does the NB8B benefit from having a high flow metal cat compared to stock?
if so, to what extent?

Probably not. Depends what else has been done to the car, but on a relatively stock one, probably bugger all difference

Unless you car is hi-powered turbo, then its not worth it. Just get hi flow cat, its around $120 rather then paying $300+ for Metal Cat.

I would say yes, if you belive an exhaust will give you more power (noticible) then you should replace the most restrictive part with a high flow item.
Get an x-force metal cat they are failry cheap, about the same price as what an exhaust shop will charge for a new stock cat..

I got mine from
www.importautoparts.com.au not sure of exact price but its not too expensive. Alot of the shope i looked in charged more than 120 for a normal cat too.

there's \"hi-flow\" cats and there's \"high-flow' cats.
If you want a proper one, trawl around various forums, ask reliable people and trusted shops, cause there are only a handful of catalytic convertors that are truly high-flow, or should I say more appropriately, less-restrictive.
As for power, the concensus is that a good complete system should produce more power, but the tangibility is in that the engine revs quicker and freer.

Hmmm, well i guess the next question regards the legality of a high-flowing metal cat converter.

might as well just get an old commodore one from a wrecker. Good for ~150kW easy, cost bugger all.

how many kw's will you be looking to gain from a custom catalyzer? from the sounds of things, it's not worth spending $400 or so for a metal cat

What I am getting at is every man-and-his-dog will try and flog off so called "high-flow" cats, but not many genuinely flow faster, ie less restrictive, than OEM.
