Hey all I have just purchased a new walbro 255lph fuel pump. I am going to get my car re tuned this week and was wondering if it is safe for me to install the fuel pump at home and then drive to get the car tuned? I understand that the walbro pump runs at a higher fuel pressure then the stock pump so it would run just a bit rich? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

No it'll be fine. There's a pressure regulator on the fuel rail which will bleed off excess pressure back down to the proper level.

I replaced the fuel pump on my NB a few years back, only advice I can give ;
Disconnect the battery.
Do it when your fuel level is a low as possible.
Do it outside if possible and have a Fan blowing on full speed into and through the cabin to clear fumes.
Use a protective cream on your hands and forearms e.g. Barrier Cream.
Don't use any electric power tools or battery operated drills etc in the cabin.
Use a battery powered LED worklamp for lighting.
Use safety glasses to protect your eyes.
Have lots of old towels / rags to cover the work area to soak up any fuel and to lay your tools on to avoid sparks.
Work slowly and carefully.
