The hyrolic fluid is leaking out just near clutch pedal. Does that mean, I need to replace the whole clutch master cylinder?

looks like its a bit of a pain in the backside to replace.

its on a NA6

Yes, unfortunately it sounds like a master cylinder leak Stan. You might be able to get by with an overhaul "kit".

only 15 min?

almost sounds to good to be true.

its probably like once you've done one once. its a walk in the park.

It just look like its a pain in the back getting to it under the dash.

Ohh well. better put an order in.

there is no rust in the engine bay but the rod which connects to the clutch pedal with the master cylinder looks pretty rusted. Makes me wonder what the floor under the carpet looks like.

I would also assume that the master cylinder would come with the rod that connects it with the clutch pedal

You can either buy a new master cylinder or have the old one bored out and re-sleeved with a stainless steel liner. The second option is cheaper and often better. Ask your local brake shop.

right.....
interesting.

in what way would it be better ?

new master cylinder shipped to my door is like $120. I'd hate to think what Mazda Australia charge for one.

Mazda charge abour $30 for a seal/rebuild kit. Easy DIY job (the only really shitty thing is lining up the ballnose pin from the pedal).

Or I have a clutch MC for sale... 8)

Mazda charge around 140 for a new one I think...

He is saying its better because with ss sleves inside it won't wear out (as fast).

If I remember it was a pain to rebuild and messy you have to have long needle nose pliers otherwise forget it
(got the internals from a LHD clutch master and put them into a RHD clutch master cylinder)
