Anyone had experience? Is there any benefit in getting the $200 one over the $30 one??

These are the ones I use on my Race Car Rally Car and Road car
Al of them are turboed and these have a built in Wax thermostat to get the oil to
80Deg

This guy is great I have bought over 10 of them from him with no Problems

That's good to know, but I was hoping for something a little bit cheaper.

Just realised the thermostat is built in. How does that work? Do you have to connect the thermostat to anything other than the gauge??? Forgive my noobness

The thermostat is a Wax/spring set up ( just like your water thermostat)
No nead to hook up anything but the lines to the oil cooler

Might be a bit more than you want to spend but well worth it

Mitch, are you planning on putting an oil cooler on? I've heard of JustJap sandwich plates arriving with cracks and the coating already flaking off, sounds pretty nasty. Last thing you want is for an oil fitting or line to bust open on the track (or even leak at all under pressure), so with this in mind I'd go with the highest quality part I could afford.

Having a thermostat is also highly recommended for a street car, unless you like disconnecting or taping up your cooler when not in use.

Is that really true? it arrives with cracks..?

The one infront of me looks mint no cracks, no paint flaking off

Looks more quality then crappy

You dont need an adapter plate for either gauges you run. You can get a small adapter for oil pressure gauge, screws directly into where your existing pressure sender is. As for oil temp, if you wanna cheap out you can get a sump plug with an adapter on it so you can plug your temp sensor into it, alternatively drill/tap or weld a bung in the sump. You will get more accurate readings for temp from the sump as apposed the a sandwich adapter.... Hope that helps.

Where is the existing pressure sender?? Is there room to put in a temp sender as well?

Its not that I want to cheap out, I just don't want to spend $100 on something when something that costs half as much will do exactly the same job. If there is that much of an improvement on the $100 item (which from what others have said, there might well be), then i'd be happy to get that one/

I went with a filter relocation kit off ebay for the oil senders. It wasn't too much more expensive than a sandwich plate and it's everything I need to put an oil cooler in in the future except of course the cooler.

Cause wouldn't the cooler sandwich plate have to direct oil out to the cooler and back in

If you had the Ins and Outs on the sandwich plate blocked up then from my understanding you blocked off your oil

THats what I want to know. Although it looks it is that way for a few, for others, there is enough holes to allow for movement of oil without a cooler.

You can get sandwich plates with ports for gauge senders and for oil coolers. Since the sandwich plate sits between the motor and the oil filter you could block off all the ports and oil would still flow into the filter and back into the motor.
If you just want to install some gauges get a plate with the smaller ports for the senders. You don't need one with a thermostat as thats just for an oil cooler so the oil doesn't get directed to the cooler until it's up to operating temp.
