:ND: I have an SE with a pod filter on the car(not enclosed).
Does the air box need to be fully enclosed with the bonnet up or does a shield pass the regulations for NSW?
Who has made there own heat shield and what did you make it from?

Thanks

The AEM intake kit uses the bonnet as the 'lid' for the airbox so if this is the kit fitted to your car then that's ok, it has a 'batch' approval as a mod.

Most other kits out there fully enclose the filter in a (normally) aluminium box. Eg, Begi, Nitro Dann, etc.

I put a flower pot over mine (yes I did). My pod is in the wheel well before the front tyre. The pot deflects all the water and grit thrown forward by the wheel.
Not saying you should do the same as it would look ugly and melt due to the heat of the engine bay.

As the saying goes, if it's stupid and it works, it isn't stupid. But Bruce, did your flower pot pass regulations? That's the question here.

It's hidden in the wheel arch, to see it clearly u have to remove the wheel. It did pass a Vic RWC.

Thanks.

For whatever reason, when the air filter was put on they didn’t supply a heat shield. Might have a crack at making one.
