Welcome Chinotto, you have done some good research but you missed the best tyre I think I've ever dríven on in my NC.
Michelin Pilot Super Sport. 215x45x17. Not available in AU but I imported mine from Tirerack in the US. Look at their site and read their test against the top premium performance tyres available today.
All up cost including bank fees and fitting for just under $1,100 which is around the price of the PS3's that's a step down in performance to the PSS.
PS the KU36 look good and handle great but are noisy as a daily drive.

Re: Tyre size on NC?
I think they're excellent. I even bought a spare set for the track wheels.
Great in the wet (recent track day in the wet proved that) and excellent in the dry. I had Toyo R1Rs on before these and Bridgestone RE050A from the factory. IMHO, the KU36s eat them and they seem to be a long wearing tyre - unlike the Toyo and Bridgestone. May be a bit noisier than the Bridgestone but quieter than the Toyo. The other good thing is that they have an asymmetric pattern but are not directional.
I hear on other forums that they go hard after a fairly short time, but all good so far (only 18 months and about 8 track days, 8 hillclimbs and a motorkhana). Other guys have been running them longer than me on MX-5s and have not mentioned this issue.
And they are very well priced.

+1. I got a set of 225/45 x 17 KU36's about 4 weeks ago mounted on the stock wheels. Bought from an eBay special (Tempe tyres) and after delivery, fitting etc only set me back $200 a corner.
The speedo is almost 100% acurate now accoring to a GPS. 110km/h on the speedo is about 110.5km/h in reality.
I was looking forward to the wakefield track day but didn't make it in before cuttoff...

Do you have a picture you can show? Curious on how "puffy" the tyres look on a 7j rim. Or does it look normal??
Cheers

It isn't as puffy as I expected... Here are 3 quick shots from my garage. The 3rd is a comparison to a 99 WRX with 205/50 x 16 Kuhmo KU31s.
