Hi Everyone,
I am a new mx5 owner and I am going to have a new set of GT Radial Champino UHP 1 fitted to my NBB. I have done a search on this forum and I cannot find any one that my have had any experience with these tyres. I know they are a cheap chinese tyre but I don't use Ernie as a daily driver. Anyone interested I will let you all know how they go. End of the month I am going drive Ernie to Melbourne and put him on the boat to Tassie and on that trip should cover 3k to 4k.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
Tyres are the cheapest form of insurance you will buy, decent tyres are not that much more expensive and will be much better. A quality car deserves a quality tyre.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
They'll do the job, but they won't be as good as some of the better brand tyres.
If you're only using the car on weekends, and don't hammer around corners, you'll probably be very happy with them.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
GT is an Indonesian company. Their tyres use very similar, superceded designs of some of the major manufacturers. The reality is, they are probably a sporty commuter tyre which is sufficient in most cases.

Fitted balanced and wheel alignment front and back $666.00. I am no hoon so they should do the job. The Bridgestone is a good offer but that is for 155 70 13. Don't know what it would be for 205 45 16.

The RRP on a 205/45R16 RE002 is well below $200 each.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
Look forward to hearing your review.
I have 'blue steak' 'stilleto sports' on my car. They are just awful. Weird tyre noises and over and under steer everywhere.
And in the wet... well I don't drive in the wet anymore.
The tassie trip should give you a good chance to review them, I reckon they'll be alright if you're just cruising about.

Haha I had some blue streak mystiques on a company commodore. Great mileage got nearly 35k km out of them before the inside edge chewed out.
Wild set of tires in the wet though. Had it go sideways the highway twice when the auto kicked down 4th to 3rd

Michelin has a PS3 promotion running until 30 April where if you buy 4 x 17” tyres you receive a $100 fuel card, (16” tyres a $50 fuel card), but wait you also get entered into a competition to win a trip to Malaysia to drive around Sepang in a formula Michelin car, but wait Bob Jane is selling 17” 215 x 45’s for $159, so with the fuel card considered that comes to $134 each.
PS3 are streets ahead of GT Radials. I did Tassie 18 months ago, some of it in pouring rain on the Targa roads and they were outstanding.
Do yourself a favour and reconsider your upcoming purchase, it may save your life.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
Had the GT radial UHP01's fitted. They are round and black and have tread and feel great at 120km/hr. After old worn tyres I guess all new tyres feel great when you drive on them fot the first time. Will put some k's on them and let you know how they wear.

Re: GT Radial Tyres
That's true, any tyre is better than no tyre.
Look forward to hearing how they go.
