What do you think of these Teins being sold from eBay? LINKY



The description says, the suspension kit is a "TEIN Type Basic Coilover Kit". I don't know anything about Teins and I'm not sure if these are good or not and if the price is great or not. What are the pros and cons of this model?

I've checked the Tein product catalogue and nothing refers to Tein Basic Coilover. Are they the same as the Tein Super Street Kit?

They are same as Super Streets but without the damper adjust. Basically, just a height adjust coil over.

i've read mixed reviews about these... a balance of good and bad.. i'd need to be pretty convinced before buying something, and to be perfectly honest, i wouldn't be convinced in buying the basics.

i'd just go the whole hog and get the superstreets, particularly with a brand as reputable as tein.

Basic are the level below super streets. Basically the same setup without dampening adjustability.

There quite a few review on them, mostly not very favourable. 2 months a go a local supplier in Melbourne is selling them for $700

No, there is no damper adjustment and with that kit you will have to use your OEM top hats. If your getting it professionally installed it usually means an extra cost.

IMO they aren't bad, they are just coilovers without the dampening adjustment.

So if you just want to lower the car they will do the job well, but if u want to fiddle with dampening etc, you would opt for the Tein Superstreet.
But SS go for $2k now with the okay exchange rate, but $700 they are a steal for brand new.

The only mixed opinions about Basics is they won't "slam" the car, and you don't have the ability to change the dampening, but they are pretty much identical to the SS.

Big Al has them on his SP and is very happy with them.

I followed him on Sunday's club run and his car sat really well over bumps and flat through corners.

I hope he will give some feedback based on his experience.

I recently put a set on my 2001, its a road only car and now sits a little lower. I think they are very worthwhile if you want a little lower and much fresher than the stock which will now be starting to age.

see the local new Silver sponsor - Sydney based. Much better in my view to deal with local people who can give you face to face advice and provide warranty and back up. They would be able to fit if for you as well. We all have different requirements.

As I understand it these 'unofficial' importers have to scratch off or remove serial numbers, therefore voiding factory warranty?

I believe the warranty the ebay sellers offer is with them not TEIN?

Perhaps our new sponsor can correct me if thats wrong?

I know I would avoid them if thats the case.......

If they imported it via Japan, your warranty is with Tein Japan.

They don't have to scratch off the serial number.

When i called the australian distributor for Tein , they put me in touch with the store associated with the top web link. I have to assume they are legit aussie stock.
