It's not just the meme, it's the timing. Many memes are flogged ruthlessly and not used when they are actually funny. I reckon Dave's timing was perfect.

I don't understand how something spinning on a horizontal axis can provide down force without providing equal force in every other direction.
I probably haven't worded that properly, but I'm sure there's smarter people than me who get what I'm trying to say.

I guess the downforce would come because the velocity at the top of the wheel is twice as fast as the the car is moving, whereas, relative to the road, the bottom has no velocity at all (I think? Midnight physics is confusing).
Regardless, I would think a nicely designed bumper and spoiler would provide way more downforce than tyres with wings ever could.

Probably won't work for tyres as there is no free air space between the road and wheel.
