Torque setting for 6UL Valves ?

I've just picked up my beeee-ut--eeeeful set of 6UL wheels and thought I'd set the valves to save some time at the tyre joint tommorrow,

An idea that immediately went no-where when I realised I hadn't got a clue how tight these should be set , or whether the nut end of the valve retaining sleeve should be next to the wheel where I think it should be or next to the valve cap where it is when the valves are delivered loose.

Can anyone help me out with these minor, but crucial, details ?

And no amount of searching for this info has helped -before we go there

Dont worry about saving a minute at the tyre shop. Just let them do it. How they were delivered is how the should be fitted. Inner threaded tube and rubber grommet inserted through the hole from inside of the wheel. Then washer, then nut, then cap from the outside of the wheel, in that order.

Would be interest to know if there was even a torque setting for valves. Wouldn't be very higher due to the rubber grommet fitting between the wheel and the end of the valve.

Thanks for that, :D

I had also emailed 949 and they replied , retaining sleeve can be installed nut end up nut end down dosen't matter and you tighten the retaining sleeve until the rubber washer starts to bulge--, don't overtighten.

I've installed them and will have the tyre guys check I've got it right tomorrow when the tyres are being fitted and the wheel alignments done.

I like to know these things.

Assuming you picked these up in Australia, how did you find the service from the local distributors?

He purchased them from me.

But I can tell you about the local distributor. Poor cmmunication. I had massive issues trying to find out delivery times after I ordered mine. If you have a check for the 6UL thread in the merchants section, you'll find many posts about issues from myself and others.

I'm now trying to purchase a new 15x8 set, have the money, cannot get a answer from the locals.

I'd go straight thru 949 in America if they allow you to. That is my next avenue to take. I'm gonna give the locals til the end of the week. And if I cannot order and pay, then I'll take my money to America.

My turn

Local supplier , worthless, half a dozen calls over a couple of days , no answer , ever, emailed , no answer , ever , gave up, was in the process of going direct but it was all getting to hard , probably would have gone Enkei RPF1 , but luckily these came up from project.r.racing in a timeley fashion, so all good.

I'm glad I asked, real world experience is why this forum is worth its weight in gold. I must say they ignored my query as well. It is a pity, from all reports 949 in USA have good service.

I never had a problem with the aussie suppliers. The sale went very smoothly.

I had no trouble either ordering my wheels. Placed my order online, rang and paid over the phone and they showed up on my doorstep a week later.
