Puncture Sealant Can (For NC)

Hi all

Has anyone ever used there puncture repair kit in there NC?

I need one of those sealant cans but "apparently" Mazda does not sell the can alone according to the parts counter of one of the dealers and requires you to buy the full kit which comes with the compressor.. at a bargain price of $180 :/

So for those who have used there cans what did you do? were you able to get just the can alone or did you find a similar can elsewhere

Thanks,
Tien

Yeah I was thinking that too but thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone has done there research or something as to what to and what to not get...

I'm glad I looked in the bag because I don't have a can LOL!

Get yourself one of these types of things too as a back up. Available at Supercheap, BCF, etc.

Yes definitely will do

I've had to use so many of them in my RE001 tyres on the NB8A because it use to be a magnet for screws and nails :/

So I can see you can buy the sealant from MX5 Parts in the UK as a separate part so I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be sold as a separate part here

Sound logic Tien. However, Mazda Australia and spare parts....

Mind you, at the price the UK are charging (about AUD120 for the sealant delivered), it almost makes the complete kit look cheap.

Don't quote me on this one but a tyre repair company told me that those type of repair kits are not legal, and that you need the kind that have a big patch attached to the tail and go from the inside of the tyre out like the one below

but anything is better than nothing when you have a hole

Yes but rather that than a long walk. I've had 7 of those in my rear bike tyre and got another 6months out of it

I've used a couple of different brands of emergency tyre foam sealant stuff, you know those cans that you attach to the valve and let it go, they worked well enough to hold pressure for a few days.

You can get the puncture repair kits (whatever Mazda calls them) from eBay US quite readily.
They also come in RX-8s FYI.

search around for other OEM repair kits from other manufacturers as many cars these days don't come with spare tyres. You know that.
Doesn't HAVE to be a Mazda kit because a punctured tyre is a punctured tyre.

Ooops, I quoted you  . I imagine they would not be legal as a permanent repair. However, I have heard of people using these "on the roadside" and leaving them in there until the tyre was worn to limits without any problems arising. I'd only use them to get me to the next place, as one would with a space saver.

Go to trueblue.net for your puncture goo.
Cost is around $20 and it's better than Mazda's as you don't need to replace the tyre afterwards.
