Where to buy special shoulder bolt?

Postby speed » Fri Dec 11, 2015 8:31 am

Hi everyone, my rear suspension is currently out of the car as I attempt to fit nb top hats onto my na6.

Stupid me didn't research first and now I realise I will need four shoulder bolts with a m10 thread (please correct me if I'm wrong) on the inside, in order to extend the threaded section on the na6 struts, so that i can then bolt-on the nb top hats. Guess I may as well get the shorter bump stops whilst I'm at it.

I'm aware of FCM but was hoping someone could advise of alternative places where I could get the shoulder bolts and bump stops from.

Anywhere that will send by express courier would be ideal, so I can minimize my off-the-road time.

Thank you very much,
Steve

Personally, there is no way in hell i'd be using a bolt to extend a shock piston (by shouldered bolt I assume you mean somehting with a threaded tube at one end and a longer section of regular thread at the other?)

Shocks, and especially shock pistons, deal with a lot of forces from pretty much eveyr direction, I wouldnt trust a bolt to not just bend/snap over time.
The shock pistons are made from very tough metal to not have to worry about this.

There surely are other ways to do this, while I havent done it myself I know it's a somewhat common NA swap, and I've never heard of anybody using adapters or thread extenders etc.

Could you not just get shorter springs?

Thanks guys, appreciate your input.
HKS, the na6 thread is shorter than nb. The bolt that FCM sell is also an extender is it not?
Sorry, not sure how else I can do it.
SMY I will be fitting lowered king springs but wanted to take advantage of improved rubber mounts that come on the nb top hats.
Worst case, guess I will just install the lowered springs but if I can improve the ride whilst I'm there, I figured I may as well. :)

SE, thanks for the link. :)

Any other suggestions?

Think I may just install on the na top hats with lowered springs until I sort out what I need in order to do the nb top hat conversion.

HKS has me paranoid about the structural integrity of the extender bolt, so more research is required.

Better I do this now anyways as
I don't want to fit any parts that could be dangerous.
