You're in Queensland mate.
Beautiful one day, perfect the next.

mmm nebo... that mountain has been growing on me alot lately.
Its always fun heading up there and harrassing the motorbikes and hot hatches
About half way through just before ya hit Mt Glorious you can take a right that leads you into Samford... from Samford head north up to Mt Mee, then from the north side of Mt Mee turn left and head towards Maleny... pull out your rededex and look for Belthorpe Range Road and get set for the drive of your life... and while your up that way dont forget Peachester road... and all the other roads that are up that way

Nebo is good in terms of length, but i still prefer Mt. Mee for pure driving pleasure...
Rolling green farms and views to the Glasshouse Mts... I can feel the wind in my hair already!
Biggest problem with Nebo is the new surface they put down on the wivenhoe descent... I've picked up that many stone chips it isnt funny!

Also, Mt Mee seems to have a little less traffic than Nebo...

pfft... whoz looking at the views
for pure driving pleasure with very minimal traffic ya cant go past Mt Lindsey Hwy, the section just north and south of the border... pure bliss!!!
Just make sure ya watch out for the cows
but as with every road it does have its downside... its in the middle of bloody nowhere!!

Mt Lindsay Highway is indeed a nice piece of road...
In terms of looking at the views, i find my MX5 is most pleasureable when its rolling through the hills at 4.00pm on a summer afternoon...
Going fast is exciting and fun, but i find that it doesnt relax me as much as the leisurely country drive... Different horses for courses i guess...

Leaving at Aran Hills i have all these places at my backdoor.

However the misses doesent like spirited driving she gets car sic very easy in a normal car let alone a lowered mx5. So unfortuanatly i dont get to go aout as much as i want too.

The thing I love about this road is that you can have heaps of fun and still stay under the speed limit!

Went for a night drive yesterday and drove through some thick, low-lying clouds; ie. like heavy fog.
Scary, as visibility was less 20metres
I've never wanted fog lights.... up until that night.

I've done Mt Nebo Road from The Gap to Jolly's Lookout a few times now. Such a great MX5 road! Does anybody else like the drive down better than the drive up?

Yep, the drive down is better. You arrive at The Gap all too soon. That's why we all drive up there though, so that we can drive back down again

Just completed the drive yesterday (Saturday).
It WOULD be a fantastic drive IF "nanna & poppa" drivers and large 4WD drivers would pull over occasionally and let people pass instead of pottering along with half a dozen cars banked up behind them

I hate sitting behind automatic drivers who's break lights are constantly on - that forces ME to brake too
Twice when I decide to overtake "Norweigan style" (mountain roads in Norway are much like this road and Norweigans are known to overtake regardless of speed/road conditions), I was confronted by a motorbike coming the other way which curbed my overtaking enthusiasm drastically
As for driving this road in fog conditions - NO WAY!
Next time I drive up this road I'll be going on a weekday morning, hopefully there wont be much traffic then.

Weekdays, early mornings, or foggy/rainy days are best for avoiding Camry drivers
It's not too bad in rain and fog - I've done that a few times. More satisfaction from getting through the adventure

Drove these roads last sunday (in a commodore SV6 hire car, which did quite well)
Very nice roads, realistic speed limit, low traffic. Came away very impressed
