Tasmania (again...)

Just got back today from Tasmania. Did 8000km in 4 weeks (including the drive to and from Melbourne for the ferry, so 6000km in Tasmania itself)

Did every targa stage at least once, often multiple times in both directions :D (used this as a guide)

Would have to rate the sideling, cethana, hellyer gorge, mt elephant pass and mt roland as my favourites.

Pity I was in my other car (pug 308 diesel) but it did surprisingly well (the diesel grunt was awesome for the hillclimb stages)

It needs new tyres now (at 34000km), being a reasonably nose-heavy car it goes through tyres quite quickly, and some targa stages (especially pyengana) were quite tight so the car understeered a bit.

We based ourselves in longford for part of the trip. Beautiful town, with awesome motorsport heritage, and a fantastic bakery :D

6000kms !!!! thats a top effort

Im actually going to St Helens on Saturday via Scottsdale. My 10yo son, a tent, the MX5 and I are heading off. We will do the Sideling, Weldborough Pass and St Marys pass along the way to name just 3 pieces of tarmac we will drive on. Im looking forward to the drive as much as the destination. :)

I do need to get out more on our glorious roads.

Try the Mt Elephant fudge!

On the same route is the pyengana stage (between weldborough and st marys from memory)
