Had an interesting one this morning....
Car has not been started for a while.. (embarrased Emoticon) :oops:

(how do you insert them, anyway?) -edit Okibi - click the little emoticon picture to the left of the message panel -
Flat battery...alarm making chirp every two seconds....
Ok... disconnect battery to charge.... alarm goes of !!! of course, battery back up....
now, poor little car doesn't know if the battery lead has been cut or what, so is doing the right thing
The question is... how do you isolate alarm?
tried key in ignition, read instruction manual and it doesn't cover this situation.
Anyway, stuffed rags in siren and covered in foam.....reduced noise somewhat, but still upset neighbours.
Recharges battery, installed and all is good now.
Would appreciate any comment

First, to insert emoticon just select the one you want from the list of the 'open new thread' or 'reply' window.

As for the alarm. My alarm (brand unknown) has a key hole in the back of the siren under thebonnet. When I bought the car I was given two sets of keys by the previous owner, includind two for the alarm. I insert the key and give it a half turn. This disables the siren, but all other functions still work.
Also, assuming you have a remote control for the alarm you should be able to turn it off with the remote?

Car alarm is Mazda - with 'upgrade'
not sure about key bit - previous owner supplied 2 x ignition keys
tried to use key to disengage, but did not work....
first time with flat bettery connected, then with battery disconnected... i guess it needs power to deactivate.... or would the battery backup supply powwr to the whole system?

Might just be a tiny thing you overlooked... but did you try just turning the alarm off with the remote fob once you got the juices flowing?

when asking questions it always helps if you mention your car so we know what type it is, or just put it in your sig like most have

from your previous posts it seems your have an NB8B
not sure about these but I have the NB8A with upgraded alarm so assuming it's similar you should have also been supplied with a key for the alarm system to deactivate it (one of those nifty round keys), the alarm box is located under the bonnet I've seen it in 2 places, near the firewall on the passenger side or on the drivers side near the intake manifold.
it has 3 settings, on off or test, before disconnecting the battery you need to put it in off otherwise the alarm will sound as soon as the battery is disconnected
I have a copy of the alarm manual that came with my car (mazda one) so PM me your email and I can send it to you, it's a pdf
or I sent it to someone else from the forum before so maybe they have hosted it already

This doesn't work either, when I was doing my audio install I had to disengage the battery and even if the alarm is deactivated from the remote it will still go off unless it's turned off from under the bonnet

Still need to get round to fixing mine. Opened the bonnet today and the driver's window went up.

hmm not sure if they would but it wouldn't hurt to ask, but first check under the bonnet to see if you have the alarm box there, the keyhole for it should be under a rubber flap

to set up a sig click on profile up the top under the N*Power ad, in the middle of the page there is a box to insert your signature, once your done scroll to the bottom and click submit

yep...just had a look....keyhole for round 'tubular' type key, with ON OFF TEST on box....also MAZDA on siren/control unit....will try for replacement key and let you all know
will also try to set up sig

and how did you turn it back on? did it keep going off untill you did something? my central locking doesnt seem to work either anymore

Hi all
Just an update.... could not get a replacement key... local dealer said i needed new unit for under the bonnet which includes siren, battery backup and keys.....gulp !!
however, all up was $198 fitted.... which I was reasonably surprised with
Noe installed, alarmed and protected.... and can turn it on off.. and test!!
all good
