Dodgy relay or dodgy plug?

Hey all,
As part of my A/C no worky investigations I have found what I think is a dodgy relay (or a dodgy plug). It is a Denso part (Denso #-056700-5260). On my Nov '93 NA8 there are two of these relays, one for the condenser fan and the other for the A/C, both relays being identical. Both are situated just behind the drivers side headlight and are sheathed in rubber boots.
The reason I say it might be a dodgy relay, (or a dodgy plug) is that if I jiggle the plug I can get the relay to work, but as soon as I release the plug it stops working again. If I attach the 2nd identical relay to the plug it works without needing to be jiggled.
Am I right in thinking that I have a dodgy relay?

that would make sense. I would be replacing it. Check Bursons and see if this is available or Mazda or AC specialists.

Does the one that only works when one plug is jiggled work ok in the other position with the other plug?
ebay can be useful for expensive & less common relays, which this may not be.

The other plug is for the A/C relay, and the A/C is not working at the moment for reasons that I don't think are caused by the relay.... so I can't tell if it will work with the other plug.
Google tells me that this relay is used by Toyota, Subaru and Mazda, so I assume it is quite common. I have found used ones on ebay, but hard to know if they work or not.

It might be a cheapy new, just that some, like the fuel inj/ EGI, aren't & those are worth getting second hand from MX5 Plus, Mania or ebay.

Just buy new from a shop (you missed out on Repco 25% off Autoclub members on the weekend). If it doesn't fix the problem, take it back.

So,
Bursons don't have them. Mazda no longer sell them (were $83+gst when they did) Might try my friendly Subaru dealer....I mean after telling me a power steering pump for our Outback will be $1950, how much could a relay cost......

Have you checked the metal contacts for debris? If jiggling works, then perhaps there's something preventing proper contact. I've seen relays overheat and the plastic relay body melting onto the plastic.
It's highly probably that these relays are standard ones used by Mazda and other Japanese dealers. Head down to your local wreckers and grab a few spares. Also, while you are there, grab a bunch of fuses for spares too!
