I recognise this video. So many over-corrections from the Elise driver. Perhaps there was a mechanical failure... or maybe he just ran out of talent. Who knows?

There comes a time when you have to admit failure and just stand on the brakes, lock everything up, and hope for the best ...

It is a good example of driving on your mirrors, and allowing yourself to to get rattled by a following car. The MX was clearly faster, nothing to be lost by letting him through, but a lot lost by trying to stop him

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Looks pretty clear to me that the elise's tyres were building up too much heat. If it starts happening to you there's no point in pressing on, it only gets worse. Your times will be getting worse too. Back off, let the following car through, run for half a lap at 80% then go hard again.

You could see in the lap before the crash the tyres were going off. It didn't want to turn in then went to oversteer.

From past experance with crap tyres you just have to get off the go pedal. :o

So from my reading of the comments above, this is a newbie error on the part of the Elise driver, in pressing on with failed tyres.

Fair call. I enjoyed the dusting show for the camera, too. :)

I wonder how many people may be racing VX220 turbos? My favourite Elise...
