Had Nando's after the beach yesterday.
Saw your car in person.
While I'm not a huge fan, I'm glad you're doing what you want and being honest about it!

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
evrybodys got theyre on preferences with styles i guess. this one is definately exactly what i want right now.
and i say right now because even though i dont want it to happen for my wallets sake, i know that what i want will change.
i just hope i get to complete the look im going for right now.
not too far off now. rims and coilovers and a few bits of minor detailing should get me there.
im hoping this car lasts me long enough until the RX-9 finally comes out or until i can afford a spirit r.
my other cars always seemed to fail me.

They turned me into an animated character?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
About 6 months ago, Hyperdrive in Malaga quoted me $2100 fitted.
The ECU itself is $1500 when I last checked.
I blew my ECU money on a roll cage, wheels and an exhaust so ECU is on the back-burner (again).
Okibi might be able to feedback some more info. He's waiting on the same exhaust from Nitrodann before he's fully tuned.

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
Well thats a much better quote to me. i was reading someone elses build thread and remember seeing 4K for the ecu and injectors and pump upgrade. I would assume 2100 wouldnt include fuel pump or injectors but still i dont think those parts are worth 2k.
Also do you think that it would be something that a DIYer would be able to home tune??? would it be worth the risk?? i am fairly keen to try and do this but i have absolutely no experience with ecu's.
Basically do you think that youtube and forrum threads would provide good enough teaching for a novice to not blow something up or accidentally build a transformer.

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
That price is only ECU install and tuning.
Yep, you can definitely save some money by installing your own injectors, getting a good base map (I think the guys here can help out) and then road tune.
High load stuff can then be finished on the dyno.
If you want to do that, you'll need a wideband o2 sensor which is around $200. You'll then need to install that on your dump pipe. Since you're on the stock exhaust, you'll probably need to remove your down pipe and get a bung welded on. Suddenly it's costing a lot more...
That's why I changed plans and got a full exhaust first. It'll already have a bung ready to go.
RX8 injectors are a cheap popular option if money is a problem. That's what I like about this forum, we pretty much all rinse and repeat as it's all well documented.

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
4k is a full tune, 700 to instal and tune will have fairly limited tuning done.

Re: LOWlifes SE, Perth
Alrighty.
So after many moths of issues with the factory throttle pipe constantly blowing iff or just barelry sitting on properly. Ive finally decided to tackle the issue.
Ive opted away from the sime turning the boost back down option and instead have contacted nitro dann and ordered one of his custom units.
Just using the stock AIT sensor and the niple for the boost solenoid line and blanking out the BOV outlet.
I forgot when ordering to mention the faxt that i had previously installed a 52mm rad so i had significantly reduced the space available however with a bit of trimming on the fan shroud and a quick 180 degree rotation of the soft pipe leading up to the throttle pipe everything managed to be massaged into a clampable position.
As a result i am now able to use full boost with nary an issue in sight.
Thinking that the clutch might be the next thing to let go so that might be next on the list.
Otherwise its yelowspeed coilovers followed by xxr rims. Then intake exhaust and tune. In the coming months after.
Good times ahead.
Many thanks to Nitro Dann.
