I've just returned from Werribee police station. They couldn't have been less interested if they tried.

Note that I merely suggested you give the Transit driver the option, not that you actually go to the police, as I expected them to be disinterested. How is your whiplash by the way? It's usually worse on the second and third days and should be part of your claim.

Refer my last post - it doesn't say it does matter - it suggests a possible alternative approach.

Miles,
Have you had any joy in this matter? I have just viewed the vid again and noticed that the brake lights appear to be faulty and the right one is damaged. If he is still pissing you about, talk with your insurers and have them jump all over him.
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

A quiet day in work today, so I set about reading all of the internet. I Googled the definition of Hard Parking and was horrified to learn that M1L3S is the epitome of what Hard Parking is! In my defence, my previous two MX5s have been been raced on various tracks:

Mine is the Blue NA:

However, the question remains: Can I live with the shame of what I have done to M1L3S??

Nah, you're nowhere near low enough and your rims are way too small - the hard parkin' crowd would laugh at you as a "Wannabe".

Simon is right. Ya rims are waaaaaay too small.
To go from "Wannabe" to "hard parkin' God" you need to rebuild your motor and put a big(ger) turbo on it so you can have moooooor choo choo.....

Hey Miles, how are you doing?

Don't show this video to any policists will you?

I've crashed.

I was trying a new route home as they will be starting roadworks on my usual route on Monday, so was following my TomTom. It led me onto an unpaved road, which I proceeded down at 60kph (if that), though it was signposted as an 80 zone. As I come out the other side of the bright lights at the front of the Boral Quarry entrance I suddenly realise the straight road on my TomTom actually has a dogleg in it! I touch the brakes (not hard) but I lock up and immediately begin to turn. I'm just a passenger now until my rear driver's side wheel hits a very large bollard. The vid and photos can explain the rest:

The tyre still had pressure and I drove it up onto the pickup truck. It made some noises but didn't seem too bad. Hopefully my insurance won't write me off.

As you can imagine, I am farking gutted - especially as I wasn't speeding or driving like an idiot!

Could've been worse Miles. Some people following GPS maps have ended up in rivers. Or Wales.

Thanks Dave!

I'm hoping it's an easy fix; new rear quarter panel, wishbone and shocks and alloy. No idea how much, but I'm guestimating maybe $2k.

They will probably try and fix the panel rather then drill that one off and weld a new one on. (Rear quarters aren't designed to be removed)

Paint and panel will be more then 2k probably. I'd guess 4 or 5 total.

Miles, glad to hear it wasn't worse for you or the MX5.

If you're looking for one NA8 solid spoke wheel, which yours appears to be from the pics, I've got one. It's got gutter rash, but otherwise appears ok, & was running fine on an NA8 I fixed up a few years ago. Only reason I took it off was the other three wheels were NA8 semi-solid spokes, so I evened them up with another NA8 semi-solid spoke.
