Yeah theyre big, but theyre overpowered or undertyred depending how you look at it, so they can be manipulated into the tight stuff.

So not much to report on.

bought a set of Kumho v70a's as got a good deal, thanks Chris @ MX5 racing

MX5mania have done a rear exhaust/muffler mod on one of their NB's and got 8rwkw gain, so hopefully get mine done although I doubt I'll get 8rwkw as Ive already got the full system - maybe get 2rwkw haha but the muffler would weigh a bit too so would help on both counts with weight and power.

next is an alignment....poor old girl hasnt had one since....I think august/sept 2011....shocking I know....
so aiming for as a guide..
-3.5 front camber
-3 rear camber
2mm tow out front
0 toe rear
as much front caster as possible
thoughts on that?

then after ther alignment and exhaust race her at MRA round 3 July 1st.

Id love to do the AASA nationals 21 days later at Wakefield as it is a 2 day event although even though Im the boss I have buckleys of giving myself a friday off to drive down, at least with MRA I can head down saturday mid morning and get car scrutineered and signed on the saturday, leave it there and rock up sunday.

so the budegt allows for 1 event as now Im on an extrremely tight budget, although Im stoked as I now have a little gorgeous daughter who joined this world 3 weeks ago.

stay classy MX5 forums!

Not sure how many I have woken up syaing 'your station!!' They sit bolt upright in fright!! Least mine terminates at the next station

Sleep on the train? I can't, travel with the same people every day 50km to the city, always talking even when it was a 'quiet carriage'

Congratulations!!

Heh, I just realised who that is. Holy crap can Reece pivot that car well.

He regularly takes outright honors at the Canberra motorkhanas and is always happy to give advice.

Yeah he is bloody good!
At state rounds he'd push me to drive straighter and quicker, while I would try and push him to do more drifty driftys!
So lets go!

wheel alignment done at Selby's @ tuggerah.

good service and listened to what I wanted and got exactly what I wanted.

so had to reduce my front camber slightly to fix caster.

front left :
camber -3.1
tow 1.5mm toe out
caster +2.17

front right
camber -3.2
tow 1.5mm toe out
caster +2.20

total 3 mm tow out front

rear
camber -2.5
tow 0.5mm in

still need ear plugs! but car felt great on way home around corners and round abouts. lets hope its good at wakefield!

So I finally did it!
a 1.12.8 in not ideal conditions, and I also lost it at turn 2 on my fastest lap!

weather was pretty crap the whole day, cold, wind, rain, cold, tiny bit of sun, wind, rain, sun and repeat.
my daughter was there for her first track day!
Image

qualifying I did a PB to begin with, with a 1.13.4 in cold slippery conditions - I thought Id be lucky to pull off a high 14 in those conditions!
managed to pull off a 360 spin at turn 2 also haha as it started to rain a little bit during qualifying.

qual'd 6 out of 11 which wasnt too bad!

had a good start, but turn 2 was a bit dicey, lost a spot and held a few others, come around lap 2 this pug decides that he wants to take me at the kink, he is almost off on grass trying to pass me, no room what so ever, understeers towards me closer and closer, I take action and swerve left, only to go well off the track into the mud, 4-5 cars go past me.

finished that race doing a PB again with a 1.13.3

so started in 8th race 2 after issues in race 1.
rained for the first couple laps. I have a spin and end up last place! all my own fault. coldish tyres, damp/slipery track and getting on gas too early!

so i decide I need to drive hard or GTFO and go home.
caught a few others, overtook 3 and started realing in Col and Geoff. 1 more lap I could have caught Col - turns out my lap time was 2 tenths slower than Col and I did a PB of .1.12.8!

epic!

race 3 was wetter and the warm up Lap Matt and I had our own drift comp which he won! I managed a 1.17 something but had fun with some of the bigger horse power cars and ended up 4th in the tophey race as one bloke had a 5 second penalty applied.
yay for me

awesome weekend, good bunch of blokes and close racing.

Oh, the wheel alignment I had done earlier - car felt great!! great turn in, very minimal oversteer and understeer.
understeer mainly when cold
