Today did not go as planned. The plan was to remove the dash and start the booster delete, dash about 1% removed at close of the day :(

Job 6. Tidy wiring up (job when dash out for booster delete).
Well started and found a new project, install all the Haltech gear beneath the passenger seat. However the new brackets I bent up are too low for the ECU however the OEM are fine. Will raise the new brackets I just made so that I can put a cover over the ECU and other 'stuff'.

Tomorrow is remove the dash and attack the wiring with a gusto...

There's more electrical boxes and screens than your local Bing Lee!

Is this a fully fledged race car now?

If so, I vote to remove the glove - box and mount all the boxes that you are keeping neatly on a plate.

Mark, as this is a track car now, I would suggest putting the computer in an easy to get to spot.

Have a look at a lot of competition cars and the computer and electrics are in the passenger foot well.

In the Z, my computer was bolted to the transmission tunnel on the passenger side. Was isolated using rubber feet for the mounts and was no problem from being kicked when doing passenger laps.

Makes it a lot easier to plug into a lap top or change or run wiring and so on.

Oh, and it might have taken a couple if years, but you finally listened about the brake booster..... :D

MattR agreed, hence moving it to the passenger seat area, very easy to get at and plug into. Plus for passenger laps the seat just goes over the top :)

Where I left off

Booster delete, yes a long time coming :) Will be interesting when done.

Mounting the ecu and other boxes on a plate in the glove box location area gives both easy access and allows for passenger laps.
Also means that you could shorten some wires and not have to raise the passenger seat.
I don't see why the ecu needs to be on the floor.
I look foward to seeing what you do once the dash is out.

Speed, the spare dash was being setup up with a panel behind the glove box. Will post some photos of the setup. To make full use of the area the vent 'stuff' needs to be removed as well as the redundant wiring and heater stuff. Hopefully before October 2017 this will be done. Plan is to install a heated windscreen, that way can still demist as well as save weight!

I could say that on the floor moves some of the car's weight lower :)

Big day :)

Dash out, brake booster deleted.

May have to call in a mobile brake hose van to adjust all the hoses, however will get it all back together and may sure it all works first. Ended up visiting Pirtek and getting 2 custom braided lines made up, easier than the metal hard lines.

Have a full day tomorrow getting all the wiring tidied up before bleeding the brakes and putting the dash back in. Muffler and new rear springs still to be done. Who said I do not do much work on my car :)

Let the day begin

Dash about to come out

Out

Booster Vs no booster. Took a break for lunch then a trip to Pirtek for braided lines, Repco for a tube bender, JayCar for crimps & stuff, then coffee before heading home.

Mess from previous brake fluid spills, clean up and treat tomorrow

Test fit of bottles and airbox, not much room but it all fits. Braket has enough room to install the clutch bottle as well.

If he has them in stock, motorsports windscreens are doing heated screens for $495 instead if the usual $785 to move some stock.

I just picked on up today for the S14 before I made the long drive north.

If you want more details let me know. You may even be able to score free delivery if you jump quick enough.

As always I am jealous of your shed, that much room for "Activities" would be amazing.
Pan brake is cool, not an everyday tool but would be awesome to have one for jobs like your seat brackets. Is the throat wide enough for something like bending up frame rails? If you don't mind me asking, did you pick it up locally or is it borrowed?

Al Bundy was a nice touch.

Wow for $495 I'm very interested.

2mm Max Folding Capacity
120º Max Bending Angle
915mm Width

Will test bend some sheet metal today to give you an idea of its capabilities. Not borrowed, mine to use as often as I feel the urge.

The brackets were bent up on another toy, have bent up to 8mm cold steel. This bender has the following capacity.
• Bend Cap: Cold Hot
• Flat 100x5 100x15
• Square 16x16 30x30
• Round 18 30
• Angle 60x8 100x12

Before Al Bundy was Different Strokes, may have to stream some decent stuff to the shed :)

MattR, had a long conversation with the supplier of those windscreens. Plan is to wire in the relays etc and have it fitted in Sydney in October. Hence dash will be coming out again in 2017.

Madjak has the best 'toys' in his shed!

Rolley happy to let you use them, just let me know when.
