Hey Mark. Do you know if he has any stock left?

Mark, I would jump now on the screens if he is doing all stock at the cheap price. Talking to him yesterday when I picked mine up, once he has moved teh stock he needs to the price will go back up to the normal $795, so a $300 saving is worth jumping now. My screen won't be fitted for at least 6 months, but still jumped to make sure I have one ready.

MattR no MX5 NA6 windscreens in stock :(

Slack day today, did not get down to the shed till after 12, went shopping for 'stuff'.

The stuff included paint for the rust, cable ties, grease/wax remover and cable tidy. Also realised that I'm not back at work on 03/01, rather 09/01 working in an office is confusing...

After a comment by Speed I decided to put a panel in the glovebox to move stuff that is not really needed. The IQ3 displays the AFR so gauge not really needed then, however I could not find a mounting bracket so time to make one.

Drilling the hole, drill press make it easier.

A bit of wood under the piece of SS make it neater as well. Rolley, the edge was bent with the pan brake :)

AFR mounted

Todays problem, the Pirtek banjo bolts are a few mm thicker than the previous ones so there is a clash with the steering, will be adjusted to fit tomorrow.

Network cable management tray is perfect for the passenger area for the wires, plus it makes access very simple. Need to cut a hole in the old ECU plate and find a place to mount the Haltech power box, but getting there.

Also setup the spare Apple TV in the shed so could watch decent stuff. Clock was present, suits the shed :)

I wish I had one after what I've recently been doing.

Anyways, you won't recognize your interior once finished :)

While I'm not sure about the location, I love the organisation and layout of the Haltech boxes on the plate. Looks very tidy.

It is daunting actually. Realised tonight I have not installed the bias adjuster, will be a pain to put it on now that I have started to put the wiring back, at least on the drivers side.

Tomorrow will be electrical install, then maybe brake bleed late in the day. To do this I will install the drivers seat and get the measurement for you since the hard top is off. Will post a video of the brake bleed process.

Hey Mark, I may possibly be interested in a windscreen too. Maybe we can ship together?

PM Sent.

Another late start, was bloody hot :( Today was lots of little jobs, remove 'stuff' to install the bias adjuster, paint the area rust treated, lots of wiring jobs. A bit worried about seeing if it starts :)

Glad I printed out the electrical diagrams in A2 a while ago. Fixed up the wiring for the fuel and RPM to the VBOX

Todays collection of wires removed. The passenger side is looking quite good now, just a few more wires to be tidied up. Glove box panel is getting populated as well.
ImageDSCN3804 by Eipeip, on Flickr

Removed to relays to install the bias adjuster, put it all back and just noticed in the photo that the accelerator cable is not connected...
ImageDSCN3802 by Eipeip, on Flickr

Steering column modified to clear the banjo bolt.

Rust treated area primed
ImageDSCN3807 by Eipeip, on Flickr

Plan is to bleed the brakes tomorrow and go for a test start in the new year. Still have springs to install, muffler install to do as well.

Down the shed early today, however outside it was at least 45°C, make sure you stay hydrated! By the end of the day despite drinking about 4ltrs started to forget things :(

Still working to the plan of having dash in on 01/01/17, started to bleed the brakes and tidy things up.

Worked on finishing the passenger side.

Found some nice lime green paint at Supercheap for a bargain price! Edges protected with rubber and foam put on the bottom of the plate.

Need to find a decent size grommet as may fail scrutineering

Everything tightened ready for bleeding

BIG DAY! Car restarted with no issues, dash displaying all the values it previously did. Will hook up the laptop tomorrow and confirm all is working. However, dash has to come back out due to bias adjuster not working as planned.

Made an additional support for the 2 x brake bottles as they moved around a bit. Biggest pain was putting the seat back up to get some measurements for the American :) With a level from the windscreen to the roll bar and me with a helmet there is 20mm clearance now.

Brakes bled was quick an easy, pedal feels very firm. However there is very little space between the pedals now. Tomorrow will be fix the brake bias, install the Sandown muffler and 8kg springs in the rear. Then it will be a wiring tidy up, hardtop back on, drivers seat install then rest day...

Brake bleeding, took about 15mins to do all 4 corners (twice)

Clearance to the top of the Sparco

Helmet to level, I'm 175cm.

Not much room between the pedals

Bugger doing that on a day like today....... I was inside in the a/c binge watching Mad Men.

I've got a steering rack to install, steering column and pedal box in the next couple of days so I can transport the shell to have a seat mount fabricated and the coilovers fitted and a rough set up done. This will be done once the cool change comes through......

Also have to test fit some wheels on the race car and the barge, again i will wait until it's cooler.

But unlike some, I have the luxury of January off work, downside - don't get holiday pay......

You will find the brake pedal will now give you so much more feel than before and the firm pedal will make easier to adjust brake pressure as you apply it with the big size 10, just don't wear the Jesus sandals and you won't be hitting brake pedal and throttle at the same time.

MattR bloody hot out Amberly way the past few days. It was difficult to do fidlly stuff with sweat dripping everywhere.

Will get down to the shed early tomorrow morning, before the heat sets in.

I finally made a bracket for the ECU today, it's been sitting loose on the passenger footwell for months now while I worked on the gauges.

I made sure I had the fan pointed at me all afternoon but the sweat was just running in streams down my arms it was so hot.
I even laid towels down to protect the seat since there's a lot of test fitting and re-fitting to ensure everything is positioned correctly.
Despite drinking plenty of Staminade, I stopped just shy of the final installation since I was knackered.

I really don't know how you've got so much done the last few days in this heat.

Suggestion: Use 2 cable ties per "box", a single tie will allow them to wiggle too much.

PS: While watching Team America and working on the car all by yourself, did you ever feel like:
