The door trims are comming up nicely.

With regards to manga's post, I must be aged somewhere in the middle, as I do like both a bit of bonnet and the rear quarter :)

I figured it was next to the drivers seat.
Right in the middle of the action!

Got stuck into it last night and again today before work.
I got the passengers side done. I figured I'd do it first to work out the kinks in my process so the drivers side, the one I'll see the most of, comes out perfect.
The only thing I need to change is to watch the adhesive around the clip locations. It stuck too well and has resulted in small puckers on the face of the panel where the foam behind has been massaged to get the clips in.
I'm really not sure what to do about door pulls though. My original idea called for the NA8 door pulls but now that it's together I'm toying with the idea of none at all. The NA8 ones look good but it looks better without them. Maybe just a simple nylon loop? I've also had the originals held up there and they look good but cover way too much of the detail.
To say I'm happy with the end result though would be an understatement.

Drivers side will be finished off tomorrow.

Door pulls like RevLimiter's would suit:

The "loops" look odd/dinky and stick out more:

Agree, RevLimiter's Sharka straps would suit well. They look like the handles to a guitar case, so you might be able to source a cheap option there.

I like the loops, but prefer Lokiel's first example, the second one looks a little slap-dash.

The covers are fantastic! Great work, Luke.

With your drilling & filing skills Luke, you should have some handles made up in no time.

There's not much on that car I don't like but Sharkas Door pulls really don't do it for me at all, they look like an after thought.

There is a lot of inspiration (hits and misses) in this thread on the big forum,
http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/21-interior-sponsored-rev9-autosport/52422-diy-door-card-thread.html

The Porsche style pull on these I like. Need to do some research to see what they're worth genuine Vs. making something up myself.
I also really like Matos door handles in this pic but I don't think they'd tie in with the rest of the things I want to do.
For the time being I'm going to leave them off. I don't want to punch through extra holes until I have a final decision.

I love that everyone has different tastes and styles, makes the cars unique and special. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

I ticked another couple of jobs off the list before All Jap Classic day last Sunday.
I also failed miserably to photograph them properly...

Both Door cards are now fitted. It has really changed the feel of the interior. It won't happen quickly but I will be recovering the seats to have the same pleated basket weave inserts at some point in the future. Probably one I completely wear out the current leather.
Both of the Lotus seats are now in. It is interesting how much higher the passengers side seat on stock rails with brackets is compared to the fixed mount drivers side seat. I will get some better shots soon.
He got a good wash and polish for the first time in months and I got around to trimming up a set of rear mudflaps I picked up from Jelzahar to work with the rear lip.

Here's the best I can do for the moment on photos.

All Jap Classic Day was a great morning. Good turn out too, at least 25 MX's.
It was all over by 9:00am for me though, the heat on that field was insane. This office job has made me soft...
Seems there were a lot of people on the day that don't classify NA's as Classic just yet. Too much plastic. There were also a few comments that MX-5 drivers all do the same mods, you would of been lucky to of found two cars with identical anything besides paint colour.
I tried to escape the heat and went for a bit of a blast through the mountains near home, it didn't work.
The Bikini paid for it's self today.

That was a stinker of a day! I didn't last past 8:30.

Door cards look great. Let me know when you get around to re-upholstering your seats, I might join you.

NAs are classics, NBs not yet! But to be fair there were a lot of cars on that field that weren't classics. R33/34s, 370Zs, S15s ... and one very lost and confused Fiat 500 Arbath (new model)

A lot of cool MX-5s there, and I don't think there were any the same either. There were N/A, ITBs, SC & TC cars, lots of different wheels, soft tops, hard tops and bikini tops! So much variety.

I followed the ideas and templates in this thread and adjusted as necessary.
Cut a thin line through the centre of the template cut out first and then hog it out to suit your lip and bar. I found my lip was mounted a little further out on the bar than the template.
They fit up nice and snug now.

Finished another project I've had sitting on a shelf in the garage for awhile now.
Since Lowering the seat the barn doors for the Pop-ups have become a little intrusive. Especially the Right side one, so when a set of Jass LowPros came up for sale I thought I'd give them a go.
Following the Jass instructions and Phams great photos and write up on his blog, these went in without too much trouble. I fitted them to a couple of new upper buckets so that I could change back to stock quickly if needed and keep the originals untouched.
The only hurdle I cam across is the passengers side contacts the body when closing if I have it adjusted as high as I would ultimately like it. So they are both adjusted about 6inches lower at 30ft than I would like but the output is as good as clean stock H4 units with good globes.
The increased visibility with the doors being nearly 4 inches lower though is definitely worth it!
Errol had lost interest by the time the passengers side was done.

The next morning I headed out for a blat with a mate through Mt Mee out through Bellthorpe and on to Maleny for breakfast.
It was a late breakfast. Check your spare regularly kiddies.
Image
Image

I hit a stick or rock on the first climb up the Bellthorpe Rd it flicked over and punched this neat little hole clean through the sidewall.
Spare was flat... Shot into Maleny and pumped it up and we were back on the road, slowly... And on one hell of a good rake. The rolling diameter is a lot smaller but I figured it was safer on the back (open Diff) than on the steering wheels.
Luckily there was no damage to the wheel, we had to drive a couple of hindered meters to find somewhere wide and safe enough to change it and it actually fit in the boot
New tyre fitted and now I'm battling Tyroola to see if they will honour their road hazard warranty.

I was starting to think (hope) you weren't going to fit those lights. They look really good.
