Yes hopefully some dish rims are in the pipeline. I want some nice mesh rims second hand, not up for paying brand new prices.... Enkei92s came up on the forum a few months ago that I really liked but missed out unfortunately. Currently got my eye out for some SSR mesh but they seem to be rare in 4x100, seen plenty in 4x114.3

haha yeah I've noticed a lot if cars seem to follow the same styles...but I got my planet miata side skirts before omgpham started stocking them so....I'm pretty much a trend setter lol. And yeah, dish rims are on the horizon, I am content with my rims though so I can take my time till I find the perfect set!

Kenta wrote:Not a lot has happened since the last time I posted. Got a cheap jack and stand set for $60 which was an absolute bargain... until I found out they were useless for the MX5 as it's too damn low! Had to jack it up with the factory supplied jack before I could use the hydraulic jack which was a pain, felt like it took longer to jack it up than to change the oil. I also had an issue with my interior electrics blowing fuses which I suspected was my dodgy DIY wiring with a bad ground or crossed wires but it just turned out to be a dead LED overloading the fuse. Had a one year warranty on the LED from the ebay seller so they sent a replacement for free and it was a quick fix (ignoring the 5 hours spent troubleshooting).

In bigger news, I decided it was time to put the hardtop away with my leaky roof no longer being an issue in the Summer months. Plus I could finally give my stand and cover a good test. Gave the roof a good clean and polish (along with the rest of the car) so it's nice and clean when I pull it out for the wet months later in the year. Stored it in the back of my tiny shed behind a whole bunch of miscellaneous items so it doesn't get in the way. Satisfied with my efforts and pleased that the stand and cover both work really well, I go inside and find the forecast in Perth for the next 5 days is thunderstorms, thunderstorms, thunderstorms, thunderstorms and thunderstorms - just my luck!

In any case, for those of you thinking about getting a stand and cover, thought I'd post up some pics of mine from ukcustomcovers to show you how it looks (no affiliation with the company). It sits nice and sturdy as well as being compact, meanwhile the bag with handles makes carrying around the hardtop alone a bit easier. You can also get hooks for hanging up the bag if you prefer which is a nice alternative if you have some good wall space

That looks good. Was shipping much? I guess it came packed tightly and in a small box to be assembled?

The bottom left picture is the original box it came in with everything in it. I bought it when an ebay special was on, 112 pounds for the cover and 70 for postage (~$296 all together). It really is quite expensive and I have seen some impressive home made stands that seem to work just fine but I'm not that technically skilled, so I left it to the pros :)

Been a long time since my last update, a lot of it due to not much happening - I was just happy driving and enjoying my car.

Summer 2013 I opened up my soft top after the long winter with the hard top and I cracked the plastic window straight down the middle! I sourced a NB soft top off a forum member and made the replacement. What a difference! My plastic screen had always been a bit fuzzy and put me off driving at night - the glass window was clear as you'd expect and became one of those happy expenses.

After changing the soft top I was content again just casually searching for parts online. One thing I've always wanted was the I.L. motorsport armrest pad but they only make it in LHD. I had long thought about trying to make one myself but never quite got the enthusiasm to make it happen. By chance I found the perfect foam block from some packaging during house renovations and finally gave it a try.

For years I have been searching for a bunch of parts but never managed to source some. By a stroke of change, a flurry of parts I've always wanted suddenly came my way in a matter of a months. KG works independent cluster, AWD needle caps, 350mm Nardi deep corn steering wheel, daikei NA hub and 15 x 7 +23 SSR Formula mesh wheels.

I intend to get the centers powdercoated gunmetal but we'll see if I ever get around to it :P

In buying the kg works cluster panel, I had to buy the whole pod which included a set of gauge faces. I have seen a lot of custom faces but never these ones, any ideas? They give the gauges a bit more of a classic look and are pretty cool but I'm working on getting a custom set made with revlimiter so I didn't bother putting them in my car. Happy to sell them if anyone wants them (red needles not included, sorry).

Have to give a big thanks to Dan at jdmparts.rupewrecht.com who helped me source both the wheels and gauges, very helpful and professional! He tends to specialize in MX5 and astina 323 parts but really anything you see on Yahoo! auctions he can get and I can vouch for his quality

There's still a few things on the wishlist but these bits should keep me satisfied for a while! :)
