Ok. Minor update.
Exhaust went on last month, bilsteins with lowered springs went on too. So much better, feels alive again. Been on a few cruises, some with mates, some with the mazda car club. Still enjoying the car immensely.

Here are a few more happy snaps for the photo diary. Needs a wash :P

Oh wow, thanks! I had no idea what they were. All I knew about them was there was a sticker branding them 'Dunlop MotorSport Sprints'. No one knew what they were and no info anywhere. Cheers :)

Bad news :(. After getting the car ready for the track, sorting out suspension and getting a loctite fix on the crank, the issue has come back, being detrimental to crank, key and resulted in sh*t bouncing around and causing heaps of damage.

A new engine is needed. Contemplating an na8 engine or nb8a. Not sure whether I want to pay the labour for a 1.6 when for a little more I can get a 1.8. Anyway. Massive hole in the wallet.

Got the car back yesterday!
Ended up getting a long nose low kms b6 in. Also, new clutch and flywheel as well as some other maintenance has been done.
Have spent a lot of money and was contemplating selling but just having it back and being able to drive it again makes it all worth it. Image

Good to hear :) It sucks having to spend the money but like you said its well worth it when your back behind the wheel and enjoying the drive again then the dollar factor just goes out the window.

It's been a while since my last update, a lot has happened.

The car still has its niggly issues however I've learned to live with them and just enjoy the car. Quite honestly it has been driving like a dream, taking it out for regular hill drives and taken it to Winton twice since my last update. The car's temp gauge still does move 3/4 high on freeway driving but only on cold days. On hot days or when the car has been dríven hard it doesn't move at all.
I think it has to do with the coolant temp at which the thermostat opens, due to the fact that that when it happens all I need to do is push it a little harder (slowing to 80 on the freeway and hard accel to 130) to get the temp hot enough to open it up. When its being pushed or its hot outside the temps rise more rapidly ensuring the thermostat opens with the rising temps. Other wise it will slowly climb and rest on the 3/4 mark. Either way, it hasn't affected anything in the way of drivability, doesn't feel any different.
As my previous posts state, every single thing has been done to ensure adequate cooling, from replacing the radiator 3 times, new coolant and heater hoses, new water pump, new fan switch, 2 new thermostats, new temp sensors all round, new clusters, new temp gauges and readers within the clusters and more I'm probably forgetting.
So I'm pretty confident that the cooling system is ok.

Here are a few happy snaps I took the other day. ImageImageImage

And also in other news I bought an FD Series 7 that I'm utterly in love with and a banged up Soarer that I'm using as a project ImageImageImage

Just a thought on the cooling issue, you could possibly try one of these.....

http://www.maruhamotors.co.jp/miata/par ... ensor.html

or the thermostat by itself.

http://www.maruhamotors.co.jp/miata/par ... ostat.html

Whichever applies to your motor.
