Re: CarMakeRevive- SR20 6speed tube drift mx5
Pleasantly surprised when opening this thread.
I expected a post of "so I bought an MX5 yesterday, my first car"
Then a few pages of "so here's what i'll be doing to it"
Before finally coming to the usual "turns out all that costs more than $1200 so I'm just putting on an intake and exhaust"
So yeah, great work so far and huge points for getting in and building stuff!

Nice work - subscribed
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It's almost a full tube chassis, nice. Why no love for MX5 geometry on front or rear?

Just working with what I know, I do a lot of work on s13's and have easy access to parts, strong diffs, lots of ratios etc
I'm actually a manual arts teacher, cars a hobby

Double diagonal probably isn't to everyone's liking but out of all the cages I've made I've never gotten to do one and just had to have one in my car.
Thought I'd also share my last build

1.8L twin cam, VVT turbo, Adaptronic ecu, Garrett turbo, front and rear air lockers, Sierra transfer case
My own custom intercooler, exhaust manifold, front and rear bars, engine mounts, transfer case mounts, gearbox mounts, front diff housing etc etc etc

Manual arts teacher?
Is that like industrial technology?
Wish I could build custom cars like this. Suspect that there is a lot of measuring and calculations to get it all to work together, yet you make it sound so easy.
Love the little 4WD beastie too. Always wanted to do something like that with a feroza and go bush bashing

Re: CarMakeRevive- SR20 6speed tube drift mx5
Haven't updated this in ages so here goes
In no real order
Peddles
Had to remake the accelerator peddle since I'm now using a wilwood peddle box

Wheels
Been building lots more wheels, have two pairs of 15"x10" for the front and 4x 15"x11" for the rear and a pair of 15"x11.5" just for shits and giggles. All the rims have a metallic charcoal centre and clear anodised outer lips

Cage and steering stuff
Most of the cage is now done, I'm doing the roof X tonight and the intrusion bars tomorrow, then I can start on the engine bay tube work. Made a new steering column to put the steering wheel where it needs to be, I also had to tub the floor under the seats to allow me and the seats to fit, I'm 6' 1" and was feeling a little cramped, feels good now. Back to the column, I'm using Yaris EPS (electric power steering), I've used this on a few mates and customers cars and really like it, I use an aftermarket controller from Rallywiz the allows you to be able to adjust the amount of assistance, for drifting this works mint. Also using a de-powered NA power steering rack with Mitsubishi L300 rack ends that are M14 x 1.5 and have a spacer built in to allow more rack travel.

Also built these for a promo for our drift club, they use 125cc 4stroke quad bike engines, 3 forward gears and reverse, headlights, brake lights and indicators all work and they slide real good

Finished my exhaust manifold also, placed the runners in the correct firing order and made the exhaust Houston and collector as one piece to solve gasket issues and mainly because I've always wanted to do it

This is sick. I always wondered if Eps was ever retrofitted.
