Super busy day at Wakefield today.

I managed a 1:20.96. First time out in the MX5. Pretty happy with that, and being able to drive home at the end always makes for a good day.

Need more KW's!!!

Here's a dodgy photo I grabbed while headed back...

Harry's LapTimer says I got to almost 140 on the straight. The other cars I've dríven on track have had quite a bit more power, but none of them had the chuckability and grip of the MX5. It was much fun, but I'd like more go out of the corners. Brings the turbo plans forward a bit.

Still got a smile on my face.

I really like the stance on your 5.

Not overdone. wheels are the perfect size too. I know that's subjective.

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

That's squatting a bit, it's not that low in the back ordinarily. The wheels aren't in the greatest condition, so some 15" (those are 15" now) Enkeis will be in my future.

Here's my 1:20.96 lap. Obviously taking it very leisurely!

Need to go harder for sure. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

Updated the video with some data from Harry's Laptimer, overlayed using Dashware.

New PB at Wakefield!!

I went to Wakefield with Circuit Club on Sat 22nd. Ran 63 laps that day, which is pretty good value for money. It was a great day, really well run imo.

Anyway, building on the track day from about 4 weeks ago I managed to get out and build confidence quick and smash out a 1:17.8 (natsoft) on my very last lap of the day. I was going for another lap at the time but once I hit the fish hook, the car spluttered a bit being down at a 1/4 tank, so fuel starvation put an end to it. I called it a day at that point, with probs only 1 session left anyway. Only differences before this day was a wheel alignment. 0 toe all around, -2 camber all around and about 5 caster. I'd got for more neg camber up front, but need extended ball joints or something.

Was great fun. Next event is the local hillclimb on the 13th Aug. After that, I think the car will be due for some maintenance. On the other hand, I went 3rds in a dead RX8. Engine rebuild coming up, and we're going to use that as a track hack. I'll be taking the MX5 out when the other two clowns are tracking the RX8 though.

A couple other thoughts. I think I want a Torsen. Was single spinning out of the fish hook all day! I need to take a charger for the GoPro, it ran out of battery during my warm up in the last session so I didn't capture my new PB!!

Here's a couple pics my bro took.

Thanks mate.

Tyres are half worn 2015 Federal 595 RS-r's, that I picked up from a forum member before the last track day. Something stickier is in my future.

Aarrgghhhh!!! I'm booked for my first go at the SDMA hillclimb at Fairbairn Park in Canberra this weekend, and my car has developed a loud grind/squeal when reversing. I also noticed heaps (and heaps, and heaps) of brake dust on the rear wheels, as opposed to almost none on the front. I suspect maybe a dragging handbrake or something like that.

Hopefully I can sort it out on Sat, before the hillclimb on Sun.

I just spotted this comment. I *start* events with 1/4 tank and run down to 'E' regularly in my NA6. I have never had a problem with spluttering or fuel starvation, even at the fish hook. Hmmm.

Hmmm, indeed. That's interesting.

I might have to rethink that then.
